So I've been debating for a long time now whether or not to actually get an Alienware computer. Reviews all across the internet will say "Build your own! It's cheaper." but they also don't take into account that not everyone is tech savvy enough to put together a working computer. I've been on the fence about Alienware for the last four or five years now. And I'm glad that I was able to finally get my hands on this one.
While there are many pre-built computers that can handle intensive gaming. I would say that the Alienware Aurora is really great for out of the box gaming.
I'm not the best when it comes to tech/computers, or PC gaming. But I'll list my personal Pros and Cons of the computer.
PROS:
- decent sized tower, not too big, not too small. fits nicely on top or under desk.
- comes with OS pre-installed, so you can just plug and chug when it comes to setting up your computer (though there are BIOS updates, etc, so plan for a couple hours of rebooting computer while it updates and configures)
- very beautiful design, runs smoothly. the colours of the alien-head (power button) and side panels are all customize-able. which is GREAT.
- a nice array of USB ports for plugging in accessories.
- has the CD/ROM slot so you can actually put discs in it, unlike a lot of cheaper gaming PCs I've seen.
- also has WIFI router inside, so you do not need to have an cord to hook up to the internet, though both are options!
- nifty handles for lugging the tower around from place to place.
- JUST ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
CONS:
- the mouse that comes with the computer feels like it will break if i press any of the buttons too hard. not really recommended if you plan on gaming with this computer.
- takes a long time to update the pre-installed software
- fans can be loud if you have a quiet house (which i do not)
- price is on high end, try to wait for it to be on sale
Additional Notes:
- apparently the RAM is not the best, I don't really know for sure, but according to a plethora of online reviews, it is easily expendable.
- this computer is built to be upgraded, so there's plenty of room for future use without having to buy a whole new system.
- this computer came with a keyboard & mouse. the keyboard i haven't used, because i have a Razer Blackwidow Chroma keyboard & mouse. lol.
- the fans have been said to be loud, but that's really a personal call. to me, they are not very loud. to others, they are very loud. it depends on what you consider loud. my best example would be saying it's the hum of an oscillating fan on the lowest setting. it's only really loud if you're close to the tower.
Overall:
- This computer is AMAZING. I am able to play Black Desert Online at high graphic settings, and there's no lag or glitches in the display. I have never been so obsessed with the appearance of a game before. But this computer delivers a stunning speed and quality that none of my previous computers could give.
- It's a beautiful computer, simple to set up, truly worth every cent that I put into it.
- So far I've played Black Desert Online and League of Legends without problems.
- Photoshop runs smoothly on this PC, does not crash.
- Works perfectly with Wacom Intuos tablet, no need to manually install drivers, etc.
- Plays everything in great quality, handles long hours of use and play.
- Definitely really great computer for someone like me. I think that it's truly amazing.
- Alienware is a lot better than people online make it sound. Hardcore gamers that stick to building their own PCs will tell you "don't waste your money" but if you have the money and want this computer, it will be a good choice! I promise!
