Prone to Failures Posted by: from: on The "brick" on this charger (and most Apple Mac chargers) is NOTORIOUS for overheating and failing. When it does, your charger no longer works. I'm a DJ and learned this lesson the hard way when my first (and at the time ONLY) charger failed in the middle of a gig and I had JUST enough power to finish the gig (with 2% power remaining on my Mac when the last song ended)...needless to say, I ALWAYS keep 2 of these chargers on me for every gig I do since then. I've had several of these (as well as chargers for my other Mac) fail on me. When they work, they do their jobs well. The "Mag-Safe" magnetic connector is BRILLIANT! Like all Apple products, the build quality is amazing. I just wish Apple could get their failure rates figured out!

Feel the POWA! Posted by: from: on I went on vacation and didn't remember my power cable so I traveled to Best Buy since there was no Apple store within 100 miles. I met a nice young man who had lived in the Destin Florida area for many years. He doesn't like the beach. He sold me a very expensive power cable/cord thingy so I could do work while I was on vacation. My boss told me not to work then sent me work so I was kinda stuck between working and following one of his two directional directions...so I bought this power magnetic power thingy. I was happy but sad that I had to work but then sad but happy that my laptop didn't die while I was on pseudo vacation...working...I eventually went to the beach and my son hosed his iPhone by jumping in the water. I didn't buy him a new iPhone. Sucka

Leave it to Apple Posted by: from: on I'm on my third Macbook and probably my 5th charging cable. These things work great when on a flat surface, but easily pop out and often malfunction..usually due to strain around the magnetic connector. Get ready to shell out $80 each time it craps out.

Expected more from Apple Posted by: from: on I have purchased a ridiculous amount of these power adapters over the years. I had to buy another one because the one I bought last year is broken already. I love Apple products, but their cords are garbage. If another company made these I would definitely switch. This goes for ALL the cords on Apple products. Hate it, but have to have it.

Trip-proof cable feature both boon and bane Posted by: from: on Since I keep one adapter in my laptop bag and one at home, each experiences half of normal usage. The cable charges the laptop quickly enough, but the design has its flaws. For example, it is often difficult to keep the cable joined to the power brick. And the Magnetic DC Connector, which is the end that plugs into the laptop, is too easily dislodged. Meant to protect the laptop from being knocked to the ground if someone trips over the cord, the downside of the design is that the cord slips too easily from the laptop, sometimes unnoticed. The magnetic connection often is interrupted when I move the laptop left or right on the desk, for example. I have had to leave home with a partially charged device because the magnetic end had slipped its connection. Which is one reason I keep a spare adapter in the laptop carrier.

Works fine, but too expensive Posted by: from: Flower Mound, TX on This charger replaced the old one, it works perfectly, just hate that it'd so expensive. Wish apple could give everyone a break. But it does work perfeftly fine.

Beefy, Expensive, Works Posted by: from: Concord, NC on I picked this up for a MacBook Pro that I have been working on and while the charger is much larger than my the charger for my MacBook Air, that is understandable since it is powering a much more powerful device. The charger is of typical Apple quality. It has a very solid build. It comes with the whip extension, as well as the typical two prong smaller adapter for a more compact size. Other than being expensive, it works like a champ. I can't complain.

Best their is Posted by: from: on I was wondering what was wrong with my computer and could not understand why my mac pro would not charge, tried taking it to the apple store directly, and after being looked at two times they figured it out. Come to find out it was not charging because it needed a new charger. Can't understand why , my mac was less than a year old and not used that much. Best buy ensured me that these chargers worth 80.00 should last longer than that, but mine didn't and I had to pay to get another one. I would think, e the year warranty on it would have covered the charger.

Works like the original Posted by: from: on Would recommend anyone looking to replace their mac charger to buy this one. It works just like the original and is long lasting. I have had others and they stop working weeks after I bought them. This has given me no trouble and continues to work perfectly. It includes the interchangeable adapter to plug directly into an outlet and the cord.
