Smart Keyboard available at Best Buy
The new Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro has all the utility of an ordinary full-size keyboard, but its technology is far from conventional. The entire keyboard is draped with a custom-woven fabric that has been laser ablated to precisely define each key and ensure a satisfyingly fast and natural key feel. Below the surface of Smart Keyboard is a new conductive material. At just 0.1mm, it is nearly as thin as a piece of paper, yet strong enough to withstand a lifetime of folding. And it's why you won't find any batteries, cord or on/off switches with Smart Keyboard.
A: Hi Trenn: The Apple Smart Keyboard for the iPad Pro 12.9 inch, unlike some of the Logitech keyboard cases I tried out, does not feature back-lit keys. In the "store" position, it protects the glass face of the iPad Pro very well. However it does not protect the edges of the iPad's case as well as some of the Logitech products I saw. This is both a plus and a minus. The plus side is that the smaller overall dimensions of the Apple Smart Keyboard, when installed on the iPad Pro, allows it to fit into one of the standard sized iPad sleeves. The Logitech "Slim Combo" Keyboard Case is cheaper ($149.00) and has better features, in my opinion, including the backlit keys and better protection for both the glass face and the edges of the iPad Pro's case mentioned above. However, it does increase the dimensions of the device when the Slim Combo Case is installed and this my make it more difficult to find a protective sleeve that the iPad + Slim Combo Case will fit into. I hope this answer is helpful to you. Regards, Tony
Q: Is this keyboard also a case for the 2nd generation iPad Pro 12.9?
A: It is only a case for the front of your iPad. You would need to get a rear case if you wanted to protect the back of your iPad from getting scratched up.
Q: Does this keyboard fit the new 12.9 3rd generation ipad pro?
A: No. Apple moved the location of the smart connectors from the side to the back-bottom. In addition, the deminisions of the 3rd generation iPad changed. The 3rd generation iPad is smaller. The 3rd generation has the same size screen but smaller bezals, so the overall dimensions are slightly smaller
A: I highly doubt it will work. The keyboard power is drawn off the connector on the side of the iPad. Without the connector attached the keyboard has no power source.
Q: Are the keys backlight key??
A: No
A: It means no light in the keys it’s dark
Q: Can this keyboard be used if the iPad already has a case on it
A: No, I had a cover before, you can’t use them both because it needs the magnetic connection to stay in place. It will also drain the battery faster if you don’t remove it after you close it up.
