Works well with Bose SoundDock
Posted by: MEJ9702 from: Columbus, OH on
Great product. Works perfectly with our iPod Touch and Bose SoundDock. Bose remote works with all functions. Had to rig the iPod and it's case w/ a small piece of cloth so that it did not tip back into the Bose unit when resting on the adapter.... worked fine and you can't see the cloth at all.
Sound works well, and it feels nice and secure when it snaps on.
*** Caution - pay attention to the type of case you have for your phone or iPod touch if you plan on using this regularly. The wide base will probably not fit well with several cases. In that instance, I would give the corded version a shot.

Does what it should
Posted by: ratigator from: Michigan on
It works exactly as expected. It is smaller than I imagined it would be, which is a good thing. I don't have a case on my iPhone, so I had no fit issues. It fits perfectly on the end of the older style usb cable, and on my iHome alarm clock. Other reviewers have unfairly rated this poorly because their case gets in the way and doesn't allow the adapter to plug in. I can see why that would be annoying if you already bought a case, but case manufacturers should take this into account when building the cases. You can't expect Apple to build the adapter around any number of third-party case designs.

Does not work for video
Posted by: TheHondaman from: on
I bought this adapter expecting to use all my old iPad 2 accessories. To my dismay, I found out that you cannot use it for video output. In tiny writing on the side of the box it states that it does not support video output! This is hard to see when you are purchasing the item hoping that it will adapt all your accessories. So buyer beware!

Not a product I wanted to get, but HAD to get, because my car uses a proprietary 30-pin connector, and there were no alternatives if I wanted to use my iphone to play music through my car.
I think the price should be half what it current sells for, but as Apple has a monopoly on this lightning technology, there aren't any options.
Otherwise, product works as advertised and I can listen to music in my car again.

Expensive but does transmit audio
Posted by: prchord from: California on
I wanted to save money and buy a third party adapter on amazon but almost all those adapters had reviews saying it only charges but does not transmit audio. There are a few reviews that say even the apple one has problems transmitting audio. So far, this one is working perfectly with my belkin fm transmitter in my car (sound and charging).
As far as width goes, the adapter is about as wide as the diameter of the headphone jack in the bottom of the iPhone. Lengthwise, it covers. 3 of the speaker holes laterally to the lightning port. Consider this if you've got a case.
I'm glad I decided to get the apple version, it works great so far! I keep the adapter in my wallet just in case I gotta charge or connect my phone to someone else's speakers or wire.

Bought this to use my IPhone 6 with my Bose speaker. Works well with the phone, though, I have to take it out of the case. Doesn't work as well with an iPad.

Exactly what I needed.
Posted by: InNeedIndeed from: Lakeville, MN on
This adapter is exactly what I needed for my iPod Nano to play on my Bose sound system. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't charge my Nano while I'm listening to music. I guess if you plug an adapter into an "old" connector, it won't charge. Doesn't really bother me - I've ended up with a boatload of connectors over the years and can charge my Nano easily.

Works well just be careful

If your using this with a charging station or iHome speaker be careful you don't knock the device as the small insert may snap off. Other than that great adapter.

Good Adapter But the Lightning P. Should Be Longer
Posted by: SpeedyBlueFinTuna from: on
Yes, this is a good adapter. I bought it to adapt over my 30-pin attachment on my Bose and Sony speakers, so I can play music and charge my iPhone 6s. A new Bose speaker is over $300.00, and this adapter cost $29.99 so I thought it was worth it until I felt like buying new speakers that actually have the Lightning ports. Anyway, the problem is this: do you have any type of case/shell on your phone or other device? If you do, like most of us to protect our expensive phones, then the device will be in the way of a secure fit from phone/device to adapter and therefore, it will not work. You then must take off your case/shell EVERY single time you place it on the adapter stand to play or charge. This can be very tedious work, indeed. Some might say it's not worth it. But what are the options? My recommendation to manufacturers such as Apple is to make the Lightning ports slightly longer, just as they do with the chargers they so generously provide with the phone upon purchase. Compare the two lightning cables. Yes, the phone is longer to charge while you have a case on it. This adapter is shorter and will not work if you have a case on. Big bummer. Does it still work though, after you have removed the case or shell? Yes. If you haven't torn or cut the case in disgust, or given up on technology completely and returned to carrier pidgeon for communication. I don't know, these companies only need to make the Lightning attachment a bit longer and all would be better in the world, for this, at least. By the way, I did cut the bottom of my designer case for my iPhone 6s so it will fit on the adapter for a proper fit.
