Excellent specs, but the screen is a deal breaker. Posted by: from: on Picked this computer up for less than $1000 at a recent Best Buy sale. A pretty good price, I would say. I loved everything about it: the form factor, speed, HD size, RAM, ports, battery life (excellent by the way.) But the 1440x900 screen was a deal breaker for me. It was grainy, pixelated, and lacked vivid color. I found myself getting headaches staring at it for several hours a day. If you've never seen a retina screen on a Macbook, you're missing out. And I was too. So I returned it for a refund, and am eagerly awaiting the new 2016 Macbook Pros. Before you spend your hard-earned money on screen technology that's more than five years old, ask yourself if you can wait for the new MacBooks to come out this Fall. It will be worth your wait, I promise.

Another great Apple product Posted by: from: on I went back and forth a lot between the MacBook Pro and the Air and finally decided on the Air when it went on sale for $1,049 (Latest model with 256 GB Flash Storage/8 GB Memory). I have never been this happy with a laptop. It is extremely fast and the battery life is amazing. The battery is currently at 55% and it is showing that it has 6.5 hours left on the current charge but the time keeps going up. If you are dead set on having the retina display or you need more than two USB ports, go with the Pro. I thought the Retina display would be nice but I have played several videos on my Air since purchasing it and I have been extremely pleased with the display quality which was one of my only concerns. The Air has been really fast (much faster than our 2012 Pro with 500 GB Hard Drive/4 GB Memory) and is extremely light. I would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a new MacBook.

Best Computer Ever!! Posted by: from: on I got this laptop because I am a first year college student, and I need something fast, up-to-date, and reliable. This laptop does all of that and more. The size is perfect, I bring it to college everyday and it is super light. It just feels like another paper notebook in my bag. It is an extremely fast laptop, I was so shocked with the speed, it is amazing! I feel very current with technology now, because at college Apple laptops are everywhere. There is nothing bad I can say about this laptop, this is the best laptop I have ever had and I will stick with Apple laptops forever. Coming from using a windows laptop, I had no problem adapting to this laptop. I absolutely recommend it!

The right size and price for what you get Posted by: from: on This was an upgrade to my late 2010 MacBook Air and I'm very happy! Originally interested in a new MacBook, I couldn't justify the higher price for what I use it for ($1,149 versus $1,599). Make no mistake, this isn't a a cheap PC laptop filled with bloat ware and an oversized form factor, but an extremely portable, very capable laptop. If you frequently use more powerful software for video/photo editing, you should probably be looking at the more powerful MacBook Pro. The Air has a larger screen and form factor compared to the MacBook (13.3" versus 12") and weighs slightly more but still under 3 pounds. Side by side, you can feel the less than 1 pound difference, but overall it's negligible. Performance wise, they're essentially the same despite the MacBook having a newer processor chipset. The choice essentially came down to preferring the Air's MagSafe charging connector, standard USB3 ports, SD card slot and Thuderbolt port over the MacBook's single USB-C port. The MagSafe charger on the Air is magnetized and designed to pull away from the computer if it comes into contact with anything versus the MacBook's USB-C, which is inserted into the computer's charging port. If the USB-C connector breaks off, you're potentially looking at replacing the motherboard. The standard USB3 ports on the Air can be used with any USB accessories, including charging or wired tethering of my phone. For the MacBook, you need to buy a dongle to attach ANY wired accessory and a different dongle for USB, HDMI and display. The Air also has a longer battery life and better FaceTime camera (my daughter just left for college and I'm now using FaceTime daily). The MacBook does have the better Retina display and larger 512GB hard drive (versus the Air's 256GB) but I couldn't justify the price difference for the reasons listed above.

Great Battery; Decent Price Posted by: from: on I waited and waited for an update, but it looks like it'll be several more months before Apple gets around to updating the Air - and the rumors seem to focus on features that are not critical to me (higher res display and the USB-C which just means I have to buy new adapters) while ignoring the more important ones (having a built in HDMI to link to displays, better processor - which I imagine will be included but does not seem to be the focus). The fact that I have a few trans-oceanic flights coming up made up my mind to bite the bullet. It survived the whole flight from Melbourne to LA and connecting to Houston without recharge.

Typical Apple Quality Posted by: from: on My MacBook Air is no less in quality than what I would expect from Apple. It's compatible with all the other Apple products in my home, & the speed to boot up is fantastic! I do wish it had a touchscreen, which is why the 4-star rating. It's lightweight, many personalization options. I'm sure there's a ton more that this can do that I haven't discovered yet. Great for school, as well as home use. I bought the DVD player to go with it. (Not pleased with that, but this review is supposed to be for the MacBook Air.) While I still feel like a Windows/Android gal, Apple con't to produce great products, and I'm not displeased.

Great graduation gift Posted by: from: on *Important Note* APPLY FOR COLLEGE DEALS! We got this on sale plus $100 off college deal coupon, which we used the $250 we saved toward 3 years of AppleCare You can't get a better deal anywhere else. My daughter used my pc laptop for 4 years throughout her high school years. She really wanted MacBook for her college years, she already knew which model she wanted. This is a popular model amongst high school graduates who are going to college. It is thin, lightweight, battery lasts very well. It's multi-functional laptop for all her college needs plus personal use.

Love it so far Posted by: from: on I love how portable the MacBook Air really is. I can take it with me to work, meetings, school, anywhere and it fits in my purse. Its pretty light weight, but powerful at the same time. Allows me to run multiple programs and do research while I am doing homework for class without lagging or slowing down. It came with pages, numbers and keynote, which saved me about 150 in software. It did take a little while to get used to since I have worked with PC laptops for about the last 15 years. However, I have owned iphones, ipods, and ipads since the iphone4. It just made sense to have the whole family be mac compatible. Super happy with my purchase, I love my MacBook Air.

Best Deal MacBook ! Posted by: from: New York NY on This MacBook Air is the best for the money. Apples new MacBook is less powerful, has no ports, and is more expensive. The MacBook Pro is great but is much more money and does not have the lightness of the air. The screen resolution although not Retina is still very bright and great looking. MacBook Air 13 inch also has the longest battery life of any MacBook. This is a no brainier. I always do a lot of research before purchasing and I'm glad I purchased this MacBook Air. I would strongly recommend spending the extra couple hundred for the larger hard drive and 8 GB memory.

Extremely portable laptop Posted by: from: on This is my first MacBook. I am replacing my 2009 Asus, which began to show slow performance after a few years and reduced battery life. I wanted something reliable and decided to go with the Mac. So far I am very pleased. I really like the combined email app....I have several email accounts and this lets me check them all in one place. I have an iPhone, so having the synced calendar, reminders and notifications, as well as iMessage, works great!
