Color me surprised. Posted by: from: on My love for Assassin's Creed has dwindled over the past several years. Brotherhood was, in my opinion, the last great Assassin's Creed game. The quality diminished after that. With annual releases every year, it just missed the magic that the games had. But with Syndicate, they basically took everything that made the game boring and uninteresting and threw it out the window. The game takes place near the turn of the 19th century, in Victorian England. You play as Jacob and Evie Frye who are already skilled assassin's as you start the game. The graphics look amazing on PS4 and so far, I've encountered zero bugs but I'm also playing the game a good 9 months after its release so they've had time to patch the game quite a bit. I don't want to go to into detail with the game, but I will say as someone who loved the series from the beginning, this is a great game that is worth the price. Yes, even full price.

A fine conglomeration of the classic and new. Posted by: from: on Assassin's Creed Syndicate is a fantastic return to the roots of the series that combines classic Assassin's Creed lore and structure with a fresh new leveling and combat system. Set in the beautiful streets of London, the sights and sounds of the open world are hard to beat. The game introduces a new two-character story which plays nicely throughout, allowing players to switch freely between either character in most parts of the game. The missions are fresh while maintaining the classic structure we love from the best games of the series. The different side activities in the game keep you busy and provide plenty of loot to upgrade your characters equipment and skill. Carriage controls are tight and responsive providing an extra fun element to the game. Added also was the grappling line which is fluid and while not quite as fun as Batman's, it definitely speeds up climbing to high places. If you sat this out because of Unity, fear not, this game is leaps and bounds better and way well go down as the 3rd best in the franchise.

A Troubling Turn for the Series Posted by: from: on I am a huge Assassin's Creed fan. I have played all of the games, aside from the PSP and Chronicle titles. Syndicate is light on plot, has probably the least number of gadgets/abilities since AC1, and has nearly completely abandoned the Animus tie-in. At this point, the Templars seem mustache-twirling evil, and not in a good way. Where is the nuance and conspiratorial themes that we saw in AC2 and Brotherhood? Why are these games turning into historical fan-fiction with famous people crammed into the story? Whereas before we grew to love Ezio and his journey to become an Assassin, what are we getting now? The series has clearly lost its way. That being said, if you like the historical tourism aspect of Assassin's Creed, then Syndicate is a perfect game for you. The atmosphere of London is fantastic and the addition of the grappling hook makes it quite easy to traverse the city. However, I would be hard-pressed to recommend this to anyone who is looking for any progress to the Assassin v. Templar storyline, or is looking for a more substantive game with plot and character development.

Very Good Overall Posted by: from: on The game is very good. The world is very interesting and keeps you invested throughout. I really enjoyed the two main characters. The controls, while greatly improved over other AC games, can still be a little clunky at time, especially in tight spaces. This lead to some frustrating moments. There are also way to many collectibles. Overall through, I would highly recommend this game to fans of the series.

Very Entertaining Posted by: from: on This game has improved a lot following the one right before, Unity. Unity dragged and the storyline bored me. This on the other hand had me hooked first day played. It is played in London, your characters include two twins a male and a female. It is cool to be able to switch between both during gameplay, only thing is you actually have to make sure you use your points wisely and level up on both characters because in some missions you are stuck playing with one or the other depending on the story! Overall great soundtrack, great fight combos, gruesome, bloody and all that great stuff!! 2 thumbs up! Doesn't beat Black Flag but it is up there in its entertainment ;).

AC: Syndicate - A Continuation of the Franchise Posted by: from: on Syndicate is a continuation of what we have already come to expect from any of the Assassin's Creed games in a new setting with some new features tied in. The game takes place in the 1800's in England during an era of the railroad boom, child labor, and the expansion of factories across the country. Evie and Jacob are a brother and sister duo who explore the city and rid it of corruption. As discussed above, the game has the same mechanics where you can stealthily take down people or engage in an all out brawl. Evie favors the former, while Jacob favors the latter which gives a varied approach to how you go about missions. Also included in this is the ability to drive carriages throughout the city, speeding up travel, as well as the ability to recuit your own gang to take on enemies in all out gang wars. I enjoyed the game, but the story wasn't all too interesting for me. I liked doing the side missions with some notable historical figures (Charles Darwin, Karl Marx, etc.), as well as clearing the gang holdouts. Despite the few added features, the game feels just like any other AC game, which may or may not appeal to players. If you're a diehard AC fan, by all means pick up the game. If you're not too interested in the series, it's still a fun ride, but wait for it to go on sale or buy it used.

Assassin's Creed Posted by: from: on You know the deal. If you liked any of the other Assassin's Creed games, you'll probably like this one too. Buy it on sale and you'll like it even better. I would recommend playing these games in order.

Great deal; great game Posted by: from: on This game has been very fun to play. It's hard to put the controller down once you've started the adventure. It's even better knowing that I got a great deal from Best Buy when I purchased this for deal of the day.

A Triumphant Return to Form Posted by: from: on If you have any reserves about returning to the AC universe after the atrocity that is AC: Unity, cast them aside. Syndicate is one of the best entries in the series. The mechanic of switching between and leveling up the two Frye siblings is unique and fun. While the story isn't the strongest in the series, the main antagonist is one of the coolest looking and most believable. I highly recommend you pick this up if you are at all interested in Assassins Creed.
