Vs Jaybird x
Posted by: AndyR from: on
I did research on many wireless bluetooth headsets. Settled on the Jaybirds X and these new PowerBeats 2. Tested the Jaybirds out and for the most part many will be happy. Great fit, Comfortable, sound pretty good. Issue was Volume level not high enough for my subjective liking and the voice prompts that beep when you raise volume level was annoying on the control center.
The PowerBeats 2 sound has more bass and volume is 50% higher compared to Jaybirds. They also fit very well and even though they have ear hooks they don't interfere with sun glasses or normal eyewear.
Both are packaged very well but if your into that sort of thing the Jaybirds do have better packaging if comparing, the beats are nice but basic in packaging.
I'd advise everyone to buy the extended plan as both have reliability issues in the respective history as headphone brands.
Hopes this help who ever is in the market. I took the plunge and spent over $500 altogether for my testing. In the end keeping the PowerBeats 2. To my ears they sound better and louder.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE!! I have purchased two sets of these already...my first pair, Apple replaced, as the volume buttons stopped working and fell apart!! They are not sweatproof like they claim they are, so if u work out a lot (and sweat a lot, like me), this product is NOT FOR YOU!!! My first pair lasted about 3 months, then I bought a second pair, and they lasted for about 1.5 months. In the meantime, I sent my first pair off to have replaced and they sent me another pair (this is my third pair)...they lasted approximately 1 month!!!! It was very frustrating, as these fit my ears perfectly and the sound quality was wonderful, however, I will not be purchasing another pair, unless they improve the quality and actually make them "sweatproof" like they claim.

lasted less then a month
Posted by: markshabu from: on
The power beats battery completely died after less then one month of moderate normal gym work outs I took care to keep the headphones in the provided case when not in use and to charge the battery as directed. I waited on hold for nearly a half hour on the companies telephone help line. The representative walked me through trying to reset the item, but finally determined the product was defective and would need to be replaced. I was then informed there was no stock available and I would need to call back in 15 business days to check supplies and finish the replacement process. Why must I chase them down to replace a faulty product?

Complete Disappointment - Broke 2 months into use
Posted by: SadTree from: on
So I was so excited when I first received my Beats headphones in the mail. They worked great while I had them and really free'd me from that insufferable cord during my workouts. Because I spent so much on them ($130) I wanted to make sure that they stayed safe in their little zippered shell. I always put them back into the shell and zip the shell closed. Once day while at the gym I go to put the ear buds into my ear and the base of the ear bud section just shears off. No loud cracking noise or anything. Its just suddenly hanging with wires exposed. There are no visible cracks just a sheared surface where the base of the bud used to connect to the section that goes over your ear. If you observe the other one, there is a joint visible in the plastic at that location. This is obviously an extreme design flaw for it to just cleanly shear off at this joint to hang and expose the wires. The head phones are now completely unusable. The whole reason I spent that much money was because I was under the impression I was purchasing a quality product. A product that could provide quality acoustics and last for a respectable amount of time. I am so disappointed. Will NOT be buying these again.

I purchased 2 pairs of Beats, Loved the way they felt and worked ! I keep them in the case and took care of them. The problem is that after you, be worn them the volume control button will fall apart. Geek Squad will send them in to Apple, but like most Apple products they always claim user error. After reading more reviews, I'm not the only one having the problem, same issue and complaint across the board ! Disappointing paying $189 for a set of ear phones that lasted less than 3 months !
This is a pic and part of another dissatisfied customer with the same problem

Beats finally starting to care about substance!
Posted by: Sf49er from: scottsdale, az on
I think by now most logical people know that Beats has typically been a style over substance at a premium price company. Their last few devices starting with the Pill XL to the Studio Wireless to the Solo 2 and now the Powerbeats2 have significantly changed that approach with a much better emphasis on substance now. I have these 4 devices and could not be more pleased with them, I am glad to add the powerbeats2 to the collection.
At 200$ they are on the highest end of the sports Bluetooth spectrum but you do in fact get quite a rich and balanced sound for it with about as secure and light fit as I've seen in the category. I have frequently tried whatever this category offers up and have aggressively tried to replace my jaybird bluebud x's for which I personally struggle with to get a secure fit that stays once I get moving around at the gym. Sets like these are very fit dependent to operate well and fits are very subjective to each individual. For me, I didn't get the noise isolation of the bluebuds but then I didn't have to fiddle constantly to maintain the fit while at the gym like I do with the bluebuds as well. The Powerbeats2 sounded louder, fuller, more balanced while the bluebuds had much more emphasis at the lower frequencies. Both sound great though and have no other equal in this category. The audio differences while not negligible, are not day and night either. I thought more than the others, the powerbeats2 had a decent sound even when not securely fitted, sealed unlike my experience with the blueant pump hd.
I miss the complete seal, noise isolation I could get with the bluebud x's fitted with comply tips, but then the more balanced, fuller sound of the powerbeat2 while having a fit I am not constantly fiddling with have these as my Bluetooth exercise set to beat....Everyone will have different experiences with these sets as it's all about the fit. I have had better fits but I've never had a fit to where I don't have to fiddle with it again and again and I've never had a fit to where even if not completely sealed, the set still sounds very decent. The Powerbeats2 addressed these issues for me and after working with the bendable earhooks a bit, my seal has gotten much better as well. In time I will explore if I can get comply tips for these(the bluebud x ones are too big) and I believe it'll then become my perfect set.

Awesome earbuds... if were actually sweatproof
Posted by: BrunoBrasileiro from: on
DON'T GET THESE EARBUDS IF YOU WORKOUT. They are supposed to be sweat proof, but I'm currently in my 4th replacement from Apple Store because buttons wouldn't working anymore. My first set lasted for 3 months, the second lasted 1 month, the third lasted 6 months (record!) and my fourth just 3 weeks (BAD record!). If you want earbuds for your workouts look for those with buttons/controls integrated to the ear set (so they are much less subject to sweat than those where controls are near to your neck, where an average person sweats a lot).

Great sound but movie and video sync issues
Posted by: Joepromomc from: West Palm Beach, FL on
I bought my Powerbeats2 about a couple of weeks ago. I paired them with my iPhone and my iPad. The music sound quality is amazing. They really sound good. The Bluetooth connectivity was real easy to do. The major problem Is listening to a video or movie. Whether the movies or videos were stored on my device, or streaming (like Netflix, Hulu, etc.), the audio lip-synch was off about a two seconds. I called beats and they had me reset the headphones. I tried that with no different results. Them Beats told me all Bluetooth headsets will be off sync with videos and movies... That's simply not true. I have used other Bluetooth headsets and they've worked fine with movies, videos and music. I've read some reviews from other sources about this issue and it seems to be a common problem with these headphones and any Apple product (iPads, iPhones and MacBooks). If you're like me and like to watch videos or movies unfortunately these are not for you. I even went to the store and exchange them for another pair to see if it was defective pair of Powerbeats2 but they did the exact same thing. There's an issue that beats needs to fix. If you're just buying these to listen to music with, then they're great. If you ever want to watch a video or movie then I suggest a different brand. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to using these. I did return them.

Finally! The Bluetooth King.
Posted by: Kao88 from: on
I currently use the wired yurbuds limited editon in ear headphones. Best in market in my opinion. I only like in ear headphones, I don't know how people can really work out with huge headphones and not feel uncomfortable. I also sweat a lot. I have been patiently waiting for a good sport Bluetooth in ear headphones. I have tried other Bluetooth headphones like jaybirds bluebuds x, and the jbl reflect bt. Both decent headphones. The bluebuds x did not have enough volume loudness for me. I run 20+ miles a week (inside and outside) and go to gym also. Did not carry that "umph" to pump my adrenaline. And the rubber string constantly snagged on my neck to make the earphones pop out. The jbl reflect bf were better designed even at a lesser price. A little bit higher volume. Not much bad I can say, until, they went out on me on one of my runs, I immediately returned them. So now comes along these dre powerbeats. These are the perfect package and what I have been waiting for in a Bluetooth headphone. Incredibly loud! Definitely will boost your adrenaline on that last mile or last set. Sweat was not an issue on my run. No connectivity loss or "white noise". No nagging volume up or volume down sound effect. The string did not snag around my neck while sweating. Once you find the perfect earpiece, these headphones are the real deal in Sport Bluetooth. Price is more than others, but you will not regret it. You pay for what you get. I have already bought a pair for my wife. I definitely recommend buying these to anyone hesitant to get them.

Warning- highly defective "I see of lot of that...
Posted by: BigKDFW from: on
Loved the product for the first two weeks until the volume control stopped working and then the volume assembly fell apart. According to 2 Best Buys employees, they see this frequently. Why would Best Buy continue to sell a product that knowingly has a high defective rate continue to keep selling the same product? Especially when after 14 days they wash their hands of it and you are left to the manufacturer. Best Buy, your suppose to look out for my interest.... remember me the consumer.
