good for its' designed purpose--"spot cleaning".
Posted by: mfuexcp from: waco, tx. on
Just remember what you bought it for and don't try to take on large jobs that require a full-sized carpet cleaner. The unit is a little noisy but then, that lets you know it is working properly and going through its' designed cycles. You get two 6" round cleaning cycles for each filling of the machine. (Both water and cleaning solution.) Each heavy duty cleaning cycle takes 6 minutes to complete its' function, (without any help from you), and you should probably allow 24 hours for the cleaned carpet to totally dry @ room temperature. For what it does, it's a little pricey--but effective.

buy this thing

I discovered this item when a co-worker was using this to lift a local stain on a carpet at work. It did a phenomenal job. Add water, add detergent, plug it in, set it, and walk away. Why anyone would choose to buy ANY manual spot/stain remover/carpet cleaning device, even the Bissel one, is beyond me. This is the only tool for the job. It is worth the money. Good for the in-between times when you need spot cleaning between visits from the professional carpet cleaners. I bought this for my 80+ year old parents. They were angry when they discovered I "spent so much money" for nothing. They used it, love it, took a big bite of humble pie, thanked me for the purchase, and have nothing to complain about now. They don't have to get on their hands and knees to spot clean the carpet anymore.

Worth the purchase
Posted by: DaddyCool from: on
It does what it it bills itself to do... cleans sports. It seems to do a good job, even with old set in stains. It does take a while (about 10 min). I think that the product is good as is worth the purchase. Here are a couple of things to consider tho:
1. This is does not hit a big area, so if it's a big stain, you'll be doing it several times.
2. The area that is treated is usually very wet after all is done. I wish that it was drier. I usually have to put a towel over the area to soak up the excess water.
3. It is very loud (not to be unexpected).
4. Expect for it to take about 5-10 minutes to clean a spot.
Even with all of that, I would buy the product again. We have old dogs that sometimes have accidents in the house and this beats pulling out the big steamvac for every stain.

Must have for pets and children quick clean up
Posted by: jjshopper from: Saint Cloud, MN on
How much simplier could it get? You add warm water and cleaner, plug the unit in, select your setting and walk away. I had a friend refer this item to me after I complained about lugging my shampooer out every morning while we are house training our dog. If you have children or pets this is a must have item for quick pick ups to prevent set in stains. The deep clean selection does get pet soil smells out. It also reduces the frustration you can get from those spills because you know you can quickly clean them up. Highly suggest you consider this item!

Not Perfect but Way Better Than Doing It Manually
Posted by: JZLVMC from: Apple Valley, MN on
I read the reviews before purchasing and was a bit concerned about some of the comments I saw, i.e. it makes one round clean spot that more noticeable than the stain, it creates a tuft of carpet fiber in the center of the circle, going through the cleaner solution quickly, and reports of some leaks.
The reason I purchased anyway was because of another review that said that she could deal with any minor issues if it meant she didn't have to clean the carpet manually. I was sold.
And I agree... The value you get in this is not having to go through the whole blot, spray, blot thing that takes forever (not to mention a TON of paper towel). All of the comments at put at the top from other reviews? Yep, I experienced the same things (except about one round clean spot - it's noticeable until it dries and once you vaccuum the area as per normal, it's completely gone). But my cat went through some major GI issues that resulted in regular vomitting from January until end of April. That's a LOT of blot, blot, blot, spray... etc. Plus that method isn't always completely effective.
Being able to put this thing on the area to take care of it for me is competely worth the price in my mind. So you have to buy cleaner. So there are a few drips once in a while when you pick it up. So the spot takes a while to dry. At least it's clean (thoroughly) and I didn't have to do it.
***As another reviewer stated, definitely use the manual hose attachment to suck up more of the liquid once the SpotBot does it's thing. It dramatically shortens the drying time***

BISSELL SpotBot Pet Portable Deep Cleaner
Posted by: genab7 from: Katy TX on
Bought this because we have 3 dachshunds and we needed more than a paper towel and a spot cleaner. We had talked about it for awhile before purchase. I own a regular size steam/carpet cleaner, but it is very bulky to drag out each time one has an accident. First one we bought we had to return 5 days later due to leaking and machine not removing water/not working. We took it back and exchanged for another unit. It does an adequate job. The one thing that I see as a shortcoming is, it leaves what we call "crop circles", wet circles. If these circles are in a traffic area collect dirt and make carpet look worse than before you clean up the urine/stain. And tend to leave large clean spot in other areas. I have started using the hand held hose attachment and it seems to do a better job of removing the water and not leaving circles. And it is a must to clean out the dirty water vessel every use or you still get the smell. Also, none of the cleaners, even the ones made for pet stains, get rid of urine smell.

Must buy for pet owners!
Posted by: Snootchyboochys from: on
This is an easy review because it's one of the best gadgets I have purchased in a while. I have 3 cats which like to leave hair balls on my carpets and as any cat owner can tell you, they can be hard to clean up. The Bissell SpotBot Pet Cleaner is an amazing machine that takes the work out of cleaning. All you have to do is fill up the water tank with the Bissell cleaning solution and water and than set the circular brush down directly on top of the spot that needs cleaned. You hit the button to start the cleaning and the SpotBot does the rest! It's awesome! I walk away for 5 minutes and come back when you hear the beeps that it is done. Also, it has a hose for spot cleaning areas. I cleaned the fabric on my kitchen chairs and they look great. This is a must buy item for any pet owner and I highly recommend them as gifts. I just bought one for my mom who has a cat and 3 dogs so I know she will appreciate how great it is too.

Great floor cleaner for pet stains

Very pleased with this product but it uses a lot of OxyGen2 cleaner for set-in stains and it has a rather small area of performance. Cleans great and quickly. Would recommend to anyone.

Everybody with a pet should own this!
Posted by: RockinFox from: Wichita, Ks on
This is wonderful! My second purchase, first one was purchased over 15 years ago. Yes, it still works great, so I gave it to my son and purchased the newer version. Does exactly the same thing as the older model with a little updating to the style and a little smaller then the first model. I recommend this for anybody that has pets or small children. It will leave a circle in the carpet after it has completed its cycle but these will dry and all you have to do is vacuum a few times and they are gone. The only thing I can see that I don't like is that when you place the machine on the spot that needs to be cleaned, the brushes inside don't extend all the way out to the plastic. My old one did! Hoping this is just because the brushes are new and stiffer then my old one and will eventually soften up to make that extension that is about 1" short of cleaning that surface. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Excellent, if you can find one that doesn't leak
Posted by: hickko from: Richland, WA on
Well, I purchased this online and it worked fabulous for 3 days, then I noticed the machine would leak all the cleaning solution onto my floor when it was stored. (It's supposed to be alright to store solution) Customer Support let me trade it in the next day for a brand new one that my local store had in stock. I have been using my replacement about once a week for a month now and I've noticed now my replacement leaks!! For this reason I would NOT recommend this product, for the price, I think the machine should not leak. However, before it started leaking it did work awesome, but again, not worth it for the price tag.
