Challenge to setup Wireless, but good printer
Posted by: Jimbo49456 from: Muskegon, MI on
Have had the unit for a bit now. Printing is quick and quality is good. However this is from my desktop computer. My Laptops cannot connect and have been in touch with Brother to figure out how to correct. Now know that the unit is designed to print either wired or wirelessly, not both.

Good printer, poor documentation
Posted by: ITPro from: on
I am an IT consultant, and formerly the head of an IT department, so I have setup lots of printers of many different types. This model from Brother is an economical workhorse, and I expect it will be as durable as the many other Brother printers I have installed. I purchased this for a client because of the wireless networking and connectivity to mobile devices, and yes, I did finally get it all to work. But the documentation on the wireless network setup has to be the worst documentation of its type I have ever seen from any technology company. It takes you around in circles leading you nowhere, and what you have to do is actually very arcane and unusual. A typical user will not be able to get the wireless networking going without pulling in an IT expert. But after you are through the setup, it works great. So really my rating is that the printer is great, but wireles setup and documentation are terrible.

simple printer for less problems
Posted by: dillabeats from: on
I finally gave up on inkjet printers because my Epson printer would not allow me to print if I did not have all of the four ink levels at atleast 25%
The ink for my HP printer was as much as buying a new printer, so I decided to try this entry-level laser printer after reading such great reviews - 5 stars almost everywhere.
I decided to forgo the similar Brother offering with a scanner because I wanted something so simple that I could not possibly have problems with. This neat little printer has been able to keep up with all my schoolwork, some of my classes require us to print out several pages of notes and this printer does so very quickly and at good quality. The letters are not overdone, it's darker than grayscale but lighter than black, which is perfect for my use and saves the toner in the long run.
ALSO, while doing research I discovered this printer has some of the most affordable replacement toner, you can find one for around $40 that will last you hundreds of pages, and no need to worry that it will dry out like inkjet printers.
Would very much recommend to anyone who does not wish to spend the extra money on color, no use for a scanner, and just wants something simple to use. Set up took about 10 minutes on a macbook, i'd recommend searching the website to make sure you have the most updated version of the software.
Lastly, there is one flaw with this product.... when it goes into SLEEP mode, your printer will not pick up the print job from your computer. The only way I've found to get around this is to turn the printer off and back on and it will begin printing or you can try to disable the sleep feature but the menu options are tricky as the printer has only a tiny screen barely enough to indicate the status of the printer.
If you need a scanner then I would recommend the Brother l2380dw, this printer's "big brother"

Excellent product, Fantastic Price

Having recently moved from Florida to the Mid-Atlantic, we knew some items were bound to be damaged and rendered useless by our destination. So I was devastated but not surprised to find my printer was among the casualties. Needing something that could print quickly, quietly and wirelessly, I purchased the Brother - Wireless Mono Laser Printer. Not only was I able to easily connect it to all my devices, I find that the ink cartridge lasted much longer than I anticipated. The only challenge we experience is the printer's tendency to go into deep sleep mode when not in use - waking it up is like waking up a teenager before noon. But once it does, it works better than some of the more expensive printers I've had in the past. If you are in need of mass printing opportunity, but don't need color - then this printer is definitely one to consider!

Small footprint on the desktop, conservative on toner usage. Wireless setup is a little tricky, but works. I replaced a color inkjet and can live with black and white copies, in lieu of constantly replacing ink cartridges.

Great for text pages Brother Laser Printer
Posted by: Opio from: on
The Brother HL-L2360dw is a great low cost laser printer that can do automatic duplexing (it takes the sheet back in and prints the other side for each page). It sleep and deep sleeps saving power when it's not being used. The savings would be from it's automatic duplexing and how low power it is when sleeping. The toner use seems normal compared to every other laser printer (I recommend using toner saver option if you see it). The unit does start to pace itself after around 200 pages of dual sided printing and the image quality isn't great, but this printer should be bought for text mainly.
Two things to note, you cannot do wired connection and wireless at the same time. Also remember to lightly shake the toner and then move that plastic tab thing in the drum back and forth 3 times (there's videos of toner replacement for Brother units) to avoid initial problems.

I know this isn't the fanciest printer, but it's the most efficient. I have gone through soo many printers in the last few years, and I've been through so many cases of toner, but this BY FAR is the best printer. It does it's job, and I'm not spending more than half of my time ordering toner and clearing up paper jams. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
