Great Humidifier Posted by: from: Michigan on I made the mistake of buying a Vick's CoolMist humidifier when my kids were babies. The filter gets gross and moldy and has to be replaced often. You could also never tell if it was really working as there was no "steam" visible. The Crane has no filter, is very quiet, and I like that you can see what's being put into the air. I also like the directional vent that can put the steam where you want it. I like this one so much, I'm thinking I will purchase another for the dry winter months ahead. Also would like to get the personal humidifier for my nightstand. The Crane brand is excellent.

Worth the money so far Posted by: from: Jackson, MO on First READ the manual! We have natural gas heat which makes everything dry, and hard wood floors. Previously we had another brand which would leave condensation around the unit, not this one even says not to use with a towel under it. The unit instructes to rince out and dry once a day with weekly maintenance, with the output on medium I usually have to fill once a day. The filling is a bit bulky you cannot use the top as a handle it even says so you have to balance it under the water this has been my only complaint so far. The mist is cool so not to burn hands or paws if you have animals. I have had it running for three weeks so far and have it placed under my paintings that are not supposed to be near moisture. The mist is absorbed very quickly by the air if you leave on medium. When I had it on High (not what the instructions recommend but I was curious) the mist just fell to the floor. I plan on purchasing a second one to swap out and run during the weekly cleaning. I highly recommend this product for dry air.

Horrible motor whine. Returned! Posted by: from: on I exchanged this for an upright honeywell that looks similar. This was my third crane drop model like this in 6 years. The first one was great, the second one had a loud motor but lasted 2 years, but this one had such a loud whine noise that I couldn't sleep. It wasn't even a rumble motor noise, which would be tolerable. I had to use ear plugs. Also, I didn't feel like the mist was helping much, even tho the tank ran out really fast. Crane quality has drastically gone downhill since 2010. Buy a honeywell cool mist instead...it's the best humidifier I've ever had, and I run them pretty much 24/7 all year for medical reasons. If you have arthritis of any type, also steer clear of the tank refill system on this. The honeywell is so much easier.

Second times a charm! Posted by: from: on I had to return the first one because it stopped working. I was very, very hesitant to repurchase this again however I had read great reviews on this product. I'm so glad I did. I have had this for awhile now and have had no problems at all! I use this machine daily and I love it. Gives off a good flow and really makes breathing easier.

Love it Posted by: from: on Our family loves this humidifier. When the box says quiet running, I've sometimes questioned it due to past experience, but this really is you never hear it run. I have our right next to me on the night stand. You cannot go wrong with this humidifier.

Works fine Posted by: from: on I can breath better, no runny nose and my eyes don't water. The only thing I am not happy about is the temperature the room gets. I have to have the fan on my feet to balance my body temperature.

Humidifier for small areas Posted by: from: Clarksville, TN on Bought this unit just after Christmas with the temps falling and the humidity tanking. Few pros and cons like others have listed. Pros: Small and easily portable Cool air makes it safe for anyone/anything Works great in the bedroom Cool blue design. Cons: End up refilling 2x-3x per day. Hard to find a good surface at times. Didn't purchase this unit with a large room/whole house in mind and I'd be a little misguided to expect such a unit for only $50. Does fine with any small-medium rooms. The design can make it a little awkward for carrying. You'll also want to keep a towel nearby when you take the top off as there will be a bit of precipitation. All-in-all, a good unit that does the job.

Great humidifier Posted by: from: on Overall we're very happy with this humidifier. It's quiet, and we didn't see any layers of water on furniture. It requires a lot of cleaning, like all humidifiers, takes a few minutes of maintenance every day.

Good for small room Posted by: from: on I purchased this Crane humidifier to replace a cheaper brand that I had been using for the last two years. My initial impression is that the tank is a bit small, and if you use it full blast, it will last about 8 hours. It is a bit noisier than the Crane Owl I purchased for my daughter. It is by no means loud, but just slightly above the other. I am happy with my purchase and the price paid, based on comparisons at other large retailers.
