Q: Is 144htz at 1440p possible with hdmi, or do you have to use display port to achieve that?
A: You have to use the DisplayPort cable to have 144htz at 1440p. You also have to use the DisplayPort cable to use G-Sync.
A: You will need to open the NVidia control panel and enable GSync on the monitor within that application. It does not work automatically.
Q: What happened to the price? It was $450, and now $699
A: Wait a bit. It'll be back on sale again. I've seen this monitor go on sale 3 times over the last month or so.
A: HDMI is fine. Display port is mainly used for higher refresh rates for gaming I think
Q: Does anyone know what revision this is?
A: The one I received 31 July, 2018, was Rev A09.
Q: Does this monitor have a VESA mount so it can be mounted separately from the Stand
A: Yes, 100 x 100mm VESA holes
Q: Does it come with the hdmi cable
A: No, it comes with a DisplayPort cable.
Q: What is the difference between the S2716DG and this S2716DGR?
A: IIRC the R is simply to differentiate between those sold thru retailers with brick and mortar front ends as opposed to online exclusive retailers. There should be no difference. Anecdote confirms as Windows recognized this monitor as a S2716DG despite the additional R on the box. I would guess that the addition of the R also allows BestBuy to subvert pricematching with online retailers as the R is still technically a different model and therefore not subject to being pricematched with a model without an R. But this is just a guess
