A: I can say that you can hear fan noise on high loads but that is not annoying. It will be audible only if you are in very quiet room. On normal loads like watching videos,browsing and while running IDE's like eclipse it will be off. I can say that it is very good laptop in terms of performance,sound quality and quietness.
A: The hinges are solid. If anything they are a little stiff. Had mine for a month and the screen stays where you rotate it.
Q: How is laptop is it quiet and how about sound quality??
A: I am a Pilot so my hearing is a little shot but the laptop is quiet and the sound quality is very good. I think it uses the screen back to produce bass.
A: no, it is not. I downloaded Open Office which is free and pretty much the same thing.
A: This laptop has backlit keybord. It just goes off when keyboard is not used for a certain period of time.
Q: is there an existing slot where a cd/dvd drive can be installed?
A: There isn't one on the laptop, however, you could purchase a CD/DVD component for a very reasonable price. I looked into this after my purchase.
Q: Is the screen bright enough? Read a review that said the screen was too dim.
A: I have this exact model and people comment and do not know what they're talking about because there confusing their model for this one which is completely different I know they look similar but I will provide you a picture I have this exact model and I keep it at 50 or 75% brightness 100% brightness is a little bit too bright for my taste, it's very good display I have no problems Outdoors and I like that it's not reflective display
Q: How much of the 512 GB SSD drive is available out of the box after Windows 10 is deducted?
A: After loading Microsoft Office plus maybe 10GB of other files onto a new machine, it tells me that storage is "44.6GB used out of 476GB."
