The right temperature in the right places. These wireless room sensors work with ecobee4, ecobee3 Lite, and ecobee3 Wi-Fi smart thermostats.
A: According to the ecobee manual, when Follow Me is enabled, if motion is detected in the cold room, the temperature reading from that sensor will be used by the ecobee to decide when to operate your heating or cooling system. If more than one sensor detects motion, the average of these sensors will be used. When Follow Me is disabled, the ecobee will continuously use the average temperature readings from all the sensors that you've selected as the desired temperature to control your thermostat.
A: I have three with a Ecobee4, they register and work with no issues
A: Just pull on the front gently. It's just a tension clasp holding it in place. The screw goes into just the back plate.
A: The remote does not have to have line of site to the main unit. I have one in my basement with the thermostat on the main floor and it works perfectly. The manually mentions RF exposure so most likely that is how it is communication with the sensors, not over wifi. The ecobee itself does have a wifi connection of course for you to be able to access it remotely.
A: Depending on how you set up the sensors, yes. As long as you have the "home, away, sleep" setting to one sensor, any unassigned sensors can use used to monitor temps only. E.g. I have multiple sensors in my house, the downstairs sensor is for home and away, the sleep sensor is assigned to one bedroom only, all the other bedroom sensors have no assignment and simply display the temp and are not used to "average" out the temp setting.
A: The remote sensor use small 3V coin batteries. Those batteries will late up to 3 to 4 years. The ecobee will notify you when the batteries are almost dead. The Main Thermostat is wired directly to the heating and cooling equipment. It gets power from there.
A: Yes. You will be entering the code in the back of the sensor into the main unit.
