Q: Do you have to have a land line to use scanner?
A: No, you don't have to have land line to use the scanner. The scanner connects to the computer via a USB port.
A: Yes, the scanner can scan a document 14 inches wide.
Q: Will it scan photos on different sizes
A: Yes, it can scan different size photos.
A: You most certainly can, whether its 200 or 600 dpi; the included software doesn't stop and say because you're scanning at 600 dpi, you cannot save to pdf. The previous answer is sooooo wrong! I just finished scanning a stack of old documents at this resolution, saved as pdf and then combined the resulting files through another pdf software other than adobe!!!!
Q: is there a demo of the product in store?
A: It has a setting for laminated items. In fact it suggest a laminating carrier for certain types of stock.
Q: What is the speed of scanning?
A: It depends on the resolution you set and the physical size of the document. It is a special purpose scanner and as such it is pretty quick for a consumer level scanner. Probably something like low single digit seconds generally per document. YMMV.
