Only Good for Standard Sized Wine Bottle - Caution
Posted by: Sellin2Buy from: on
Starting off, I really like this unit bang for buck, however, ran into 2 issues. First is delivery issue and second is design flaw so to speak.
I ordered this online and both units came damaged, so I am working on getting my 3rd one, except I'll go pick this up at the store vs UPS shipping. I think it is well packed, but both units were trashed upon arrival with major concealed damage - my suggestion, do a pickup at store. But this is not why I am giving 2 stars.
If you have standard 750ml wine bottles, you are in business. This cooler WILL NOT hold a Syrah or Pinot Noir bottle (bulbous bottom style), nor will it hold a high end Cab in a thicker glass bottle or taller red wine bottle. Don't even think of putting champagne or a magnum of any type as you will be removing shelves and stacking bottles on top of each other. I am not a wine snob and don't buy $100 bottles, but something as simple as a $34 bottle of Hess Cabernet in a taller bottle won't fit between the shelves (too tight) or the depth (too long).
There is more room up top and I thought I would flip the temps and put reds up top (to hold the big bottles) and whites down below but you cannot do that either as the unit will not allow temps to match up. Whites have to go on top and Reds on the bottom.
I read the reviews before buying and nobody has mentioned this, so hopefully this helps you decide.

Frigidaire service is ridiculous
Posted by: BBUYcustomer from: on
I purchased this unit from BestBuy.com and it arrived with a dent in the door. Instead of returning it to a store I followed the instructions that say call Frigidaire directly. I did and they told me it would be replaced, someone will come with the door in two weeks..
A local service company came to look at it and said they would get the part and install it in a week. I even bought the Frigidaire extended warranty during this conversation. After 3 weeks they called back and said Frigidaire was now refusing to send the part.
I called Frigidaire back and after an hour (most of which I spent on hold) they told me they wouldn't fix it because the repair company said I caused the damage. While I was on hold I contacted the repair company and they said that was not true. I confronted Frigidaire about it and they said, "sorry we won't fix it because it's not fixable" - you need to go back to the store. At this stage my cooler has already been installed and I have no packaging #I thought they were replacing the door#. I asked for the supervisor and was told "they don't talk to customers, they just relay their decisions to the customer service reps????" They told me all they can do is give me a return number so Best Buy will take it back after more than 30 days with no packaging. I said fine, then the supervisor sent word that they won't give me an authorization, just go to a particular Best Buy and they will exchange it - they claimed they talked to them and everything was fine.
After arriving at Best Buy I realized nobody from Frigidaire called, and they can't exchange the unit because they don't have any in stock, plus it's been more than 15 days and the product is out of the box.
Best Buy was kind enough to give me a refund on a Best Buy card, which I used to buy the same unit #this pained me but I had a cabinet built to accommodate it.#
Overall it's the worst manufacturer service I have ever experienced. They told me they would refund the extended warranty since I was returning the unit - of course this has not happened, I'm not holding my breath. Never again!!!

This is our first wine cooler and we're happy with it, especially considering the price. You can spend as much as you want on a wine cooler, the prices can be astronomical. This is a very reasonably priced machine. We were looking for an affordable dual zone cooler that held at least 3 cases... check. We wanted to spend less than $500... check. We wanted a known brand... check. The machine works well, it's very quiet. You can hear the compressor kick on of you are in the same room, but it's not anywhere near as loud as the refrigerator. The temperature zones work perfectly. Be prepared, the shelves are not built to slide in and out easily, you need to pull the bottles out individually. The shelves lock in place in the back and when bottles are placed on them, you can't really pull them out. With that one caveat, this wine cooler is outstanding for the price.

Keeps wine cool, but....
Posted by: unhappy from: on
nice looking unit and seems to perform the basic function of chilling wine, but the ease of use/engineering leaves something to be desired. The shelves do not slide when loaded. They are too close together to slide the wine bottles in easily. The top shelf of the lower section, which is for red wine, does not fit most red wine bottles, so I had to take the shelf out just to use the space. The rack at the bottom is also too narrow to slide in bottles so I took it out too. Really frustrating!!
Unit works, but functionality is not good. At less than $400 it is ok and still way less than the high end units, but beware, it doesn't work as good as it looks.

Very nice fridge - but buyer beware
Posted by: KDiesel from: on
I'm very close to giving this a 5 star review. Unfortunately, I had to go through three different refrigerators of this model before I got an acceptable one. The first two fridges were delivered, and both were delivered with very noticeable damages - both physically and when running. The first one delivered was damaged on the corners and the back of the unit, and when plugged in it would be a very loud humming noise when it was running - so loud that you could hear it on the second level of our home (it's placed on the main/first level). The second had very noticeable damages and I did not take the time to plug it in to find out more - I was not going to risk going through the e same thing. The handling of them were quite careless, and that was obvious. I don't know if this was Frigidaire, Best Buy, or UPS...but, I was disappointed. This forced me to return BOTH fridges to a physical store, since packaging and arranging for pickup was nearly impossible (the packaging of the item by Frigidaire, admittedly, was very good - so good I could not replicate it for it to be picked up). Only when there was a the same refrigerator physically in-stock at a store was I able to secure one with no damages. Unfortunately, I had to travel over an hour each way to the store to pick it up - and I have two other Best Buy stores, both within 15 minutes of my home. Neither of them had this model in stock.
I've had it up and running for close to a month. It is so quiet you can barely notice it running. The dual zone is a very, very nice feature. I have not done tests of my own to measure the accuracy of the temperature, but we did open a bottle of white wine the other night and it was chilled very nicely, exactly to our liking.
A slight drawback is the design of of the drawers. You might be able to get 38 bottles of the standard wine bottle shapes in this refrigerator. As most will know - not all wine bottles take the standard shape, and a lot take on very different shapes. We've been able to fit about 15-20 bottles in of different shapes and sizes, which is nice. I'm not sure I can imagine a scenario where we would need 38 bottles stored at one time. Even fitting the 15-20 bottles, we will have to lift up the drawer above or below the one we're pulling from just to be able to take it out. A little more height to the unit would do wonders.
Through this all, I must say the customer service has been OUTSTANDING. They've been very understanding and very helpful. They've offered credits for the hassle I've had to experience. They called the store for me to make sure they had this item in stock, check it for damages, and put it aside for me to pick up so no one would claim it. Best Buy seems to be turning a corner with their customer service and taking care of their customers. This is greatly appreciated, and is a huge factor when I make future purchasing decisions.
I did buy the extended warranty plan with this purchase - just because of my experience with the first to refrigerators shipped. It gives me some peace of mind in the event something happens or fails in the next couple of years...

Awesome, Classy, Elegant, & Spacious Wine Cooler!
Posted by: CastleOneDay from: on
My fiance' has wanted a really nice wine cooler for a long time, and so have I. For her birthday I surprised her with this gem! She loves it as do I. The temperature options are perfect and the temperature is very stable, no fluctuation from our desired settings. There truly is room for 38 wine bottles and space at the very bottom for some larger bottles. We love the stained wood pull-out shelves and size of this cooler. It doesn't take up much space at all and looks extremely nice with the stainless steel shine. The price was great compared to the 50 other coolers I researched and reviewed. This brand is very reputable and this cooler is another great example of why. Thank you!

For the money this is a very quality unit. I like that it's nearly dishwasher size, which makes it easy to build into a kitchen. You could pay 4 or 5 times this amount for a similar sized cooler, but I don't see how it could do a better job at keeping your wine cold. The unit is also very quiet.

Nothing else in the price range compares

This is a solid and well built unit. It makes little gurgling noises when running, but settles down after a day or so. Wine racks are narrow...so watch out with bigger bottles.

Works as expected

We've only had it a couple of months. Looks nice. Easy set up. Dual temp is working nicely. Very quiet. Only drawback is it does not hold 38 bottles.

Okay for lower end

It has all the bells and whistles that you 1200 dollar models have, just the big question is will it last...it seems fine after the first week.
