The actors - Great. The writing - Great. The directing - Great. All of this, Game of thrones has managed to maintain for yet another season, after an incredible third season that came before it. If you were shocked by the Red Wedding, the Mountain and the Viper battle is close, which is quite a feat; to manage that level of shock again in another season. The actors are consistently great this season, as are the new cast members - you won't be disappointed in them. The directing is wonderful this season especially, the penultimate episode felt like a short film, and was worthy of award nominations in the category of directing. Without spoiling, it focuses only on the events of the Wall, rather than the realm as a whole. It was nothing less than intensely thrilling to watch, and I felt as if I was watching something obviously worthy of acclaim. The season opens very well, compared to past seasons. Usually, even in this show, the first episode is a return from off-season and typically not the hallmark of the season. Not this time, the first episode was a great episode in its own right. And the second episode, well - it's the Purple wedding. This season is definitely worth the money, from beginning to end. I especially love the Best Buy exclusive covers for the Blu-ray release. I own the House Martell cover Blu-ray, and plan on buying all the different covers eventually, this is history in the making after all. If you are even slightly conflicted as to whether you should purchase this or not, I cannot recommend any more strongly that you buy this immediately. Several episodes alone are worthy of the price, and awards. This is a truly "must-buy" and "must-own" Blu-ray.

Game of Thrones continues to be one of my personal favorite shows currently on television. A show that can truly surprise me from one episode to the next is rare and Game of Thrones has me enthralled each Sunday. If you are currently on the fence about watching the show, I highly recommend you do so. As for the Blu Ray technical specifications, HBO continues to put out top notch transfers to compliment its Top Rated show. The PQ is fantastic, minimal, if no, banding or unsightly grain in dark/night scenes, of which there are many this season. Audio quality is clear and concise. At times it can be a bit center channel heavy with the dialog but ramps up when called upon for battle scenes later in the season. Overall, I highly recommend adding GoT Season 4 to your collection if you haven't already, it makes a great reference set to add to your collection.

A beautiful slipcover. Package is smaller since they drop the dvds and only 4 disc versus 5 disc from season 1-3. Package is perfect size now. The visual are stunning. Amazing special features including audio commentary (12 tracks) and history & lore, and other. Must own for Game of Thrones fans.

Season 4 is excellent. It diverges from the source novels quite a bit more than the previous seasons which, as a book reader, I enjoy. It allows for me to separate the two as unique works and allows for me to still be surprised and enjoy the series without worrying about small inaccuracies.
