Keep an eye on steps taken, calories burned and more with this Garmin Vivosmart 010-01317-50 activity tracker, which features an included heart rate monitor chest strap for heart-rate readings. The alarm makes it easy to wake on time.
A: You can only track your heart rate while you are wearing the heart rate chest monitor.
Q: Can I swim with both items on?
A: Hi Jake. Yes, you can swim while wearing both the vívosmart and accessory heart rate monitor. The vívosmart is water resistant, and can be worn while showering, or performing activities such as shallow snorkeling, and surface swimming. Surface swimming means the device can be used while swimming (no scuba diving) in fresh or salt water (please rinse device after use in salt water) and the device will not sustain water damage. It has a water rating of 5 ATM or 50 meters. Both the The standard Heart Rate Monitor (Hard Strap) and the Premium Heart Rate Monitor (Soft Strap) have a water rating of 3ATM. They can withstand 30 meters of water pressure, which means they can be worn while swimming without causing them damage. Being worn on the chest, the Heart Rate Monitors do not repeatedly impact the surface of the water as wrist-worn devices However, the heart rate monitors are not designed to provide heart rate data in the water. This limitation is related to the inability to transmit the heart rate data through the water. After exiting the water, the Garmin device will begin to record heart rate data. Thanks for asking! *CG
Q: How large / long is the chest strap?
A: I am sure no matter your size it will fit you. I am a big guy with chest measurements around 52 inches. I have to adjust my strap for a tighter fit and if I needed more room there is plenty of space on the strap to let it out. I love the heart rate monitor coupled with my vivofit. Just to give an idea for metrics. When I first bought it I was 287 pounds. And I had plenty of space to adjust. Now I am 240 and I have to tighten more than loosen the strap.
A: Like other wrist-worn fitness bands, the vívosmart will not track steps while worn if your arms are not moving. HOWEVER, what I have done in similar situations is to slip the vívo into my pocket. This allows it to register my leg movement and tally those steps. Other users have strapped the band to their ankle, though the ability to do this would depend on your ankle size, of course. -JPK

Q: Will the vivid art work with Nike fuel and Nike running app?
A: Yes, the vívosmart will work with the Nike applications. Their app pulls data from our Garmin Connect app so you must upload to Garmin Connect first. ~JH
