One of the worst games of the year Posted by: from: on I love Music games, GHII was the one that got me started and been a long fan since, fast forward 8 years later. what have they done to this franchise...this is an obvious cash grab. Need new instruments and the old ones wont be backwards compatible, ok i can live with that. I can live with the new changes. BUT what made me return this game was the stupid progression to play a song i really wanted to play, unlike RB. for this game you have to play the same song over and over to be able to afford to unlock another song....of you dont want to wait? then give us MORE MONEY on a game you spend $100 to get and you get to unlock a few more songs without the wait!! This isnt a mobile game or free to play...worst decision ever and i am so done with Activision as a whole. They have taken advantage of the Music fans and i hope this game doenst sell well or change that stupid decision to make you pay real money to unlock more songs.

Not Worth The Money Dont Buy! Posted by: from: on Bought this with a ps4 console purchase just on the rep of the previous Guitar Hero games and am utterly disgusted with it. First off you only get like 35 songs with the base game. Not only that is not a good mix of old and new rock its just Generic no name rock with some popular band songs thrown in. Cant customize anything with your character it just plays like an FMV game. Miss a few notes and you have real people screaming how much you suck, its just not entertaining at all. Add this to the fact that the GHTV thing they are pushing is a huge rip-off. Basically you can no longer just buy the songs you like and play them, no you have to pay them money for each play through of the song with real money or grind out multiple promotional music videos to get enough free coins buy a play through. It is utter bs! I cant customize anything I cant just play or buy the songs I like and because of Best Buys lame Policy of no game returns I cant even get my money back!! Do yourself a favor and don't buy this game, the guitar is not compatible with rock band now either. If you are looking for a game like this than look at Rock Band 4 at least that comes will a good collection of music.

underwhelming but OK Posted by: from: on I was excited to finally see a new version of GH coming out. Being pretty good at the others (expert level most songs), I was curious as to how the new button layout would work. After a little getting used to it - it's pretty good, intuitive and adds a new learning curve. The problems I have with the game: 1. The cheesy actors and directing when playing LIVE. Too much, just too much distracting garbage - the audience looks stupid, the signs they hold up like "Fresh!" are just silly and unrealistic. The bands look like a bunch of fake actors and and just... wrong. 2. The music: You have to play through mountains of overplayed pop junk. Hey if you really like "Light 'em Up" by Fall out Boy and other cheese like Rhianna you may very well love this game. 3. GHTV - Supposedly play "What you want" as the game description on their site says. Not entirely true - you play channels where songs are streamed - (again, a lot of pop-garbage that you must wade through) which you have to beat to earn credits to THEN play what you want. Then there's the lag, songs speed up then slow down at weird times. Overall, it's an OK game, in hindsight - I'd rather have saved the $115 (I got the extended guitar warranty that BB offers because I know from experience that the guitars are junk and don't last). My advice: Hook up your old PS2 ox Xbox and replay the originals, much more fun and satisfying w/o wading through a bunch of junk.

Fun game Posted by: from: on This game is fun to play. Now that they have split the neck into two sections (top and bottom) you can get a little bit more realistic chord shapes. Also some very, very backwards chords that screw you up if you are a guitar player. It's fun to play against others online in the tv mode but there are a couple of downfalls to this game. #1 you are forced to play horrible songs that barely have guitar in them and would in no way would ever be written by a "Guitar Hero". #2. You can only play the songs you want if you buy them. And you have to pay per play. But beyond that it's a good game.

Differences mainly work out Posted by: from: on Guitar Hero Live attracted me due to how different it is from past rhythm games. Eschewing the traditional five-button guitar layout, Live's guitar features 6 buttons in a 3-button layout (think 3 buttons on top of 3 others). I've seen many reviews mention that this mimics a guitar more accurately and I agree with that. There are two game modes once the game is started: Live and TV. Live is the standard career mode with a twist-- Instead of creating a band, all concerts are played with a pre-recorded video of a band that changes based on how you play. If you are failing, the crowd boos and your band members get furious. Play well and everyone loves you! I really enjoyed how silly this campaign is. TV allows you to access an assortment of channels that play without your input. These act almost like radio stations in which you play whatever is on. All songs are played on top of the official music video, which adds an MTV feel. I love it!

Great game Posted by: from: on This game just keeps getting better and better. I buy this game for my kids and it is the only way they know some of the older hits.

Guitar hero live is so fun Posted by: from: on Bought this game when I bought the ps4. It's super challenging and scares you at first because it's a totally different setup than the previous games. My only issue is navigating the game. It's annoyingly difficult.

Fun Game For Family and Friends Posted by: from: on I purchased the game because I wanted to spend more time with my family, and this game provides just that. I bought it when it first released around Christmas and we spent the night playing and singing along to the tracks. The difference between This iteration of Guitar Hero and previous incarnations is that this version is more inclusive. Classics, Top 40, Folk, and Indie songs have been included this time around. The new revamped controls seems a bit difficult at first, but the learning curve isn't that steep and provide a more realistic feel to the experience. The only criticism that I have is that I experienced a bit of jamming for my buttons, but other than that everything functions perfectly.

Great Bonding Game Posted by: from: on The selection of songs are very catchy and some stay stuck in your head. learning the Guitar is easy to play. To learn it like a pro will take time and skill. Overall it's fun for a date or playing with the kids.
