Not what I was expecting

I was really excited to use this vacuum as I had never spent this much on a vacuum before and had read lots of good reviews. Upon opening the box, and taking apart everything I found that the instruction manual was missing, maybe I received a vacuum that was returned :(
Pros: CORDLESS, Easy to set-up, Lightweight (1/3 of weight of my Bissell Powerforce upright), LED lights were so bright that I didn't even have to turn lights on in a dark room, looks great, does't take up much space, the clear casing makes it easy to see if something is stuck in the brushes, worked well on tile, brush head is low profile so I was able to get under couch and furniture easier.
Cons: Doesn't pick up as much as my broken Bissell Power Force (that was 1/3 of the price) on carpet, emptying was easy but had to pull out hair by hand, it has a pretty loud high pitch sound when on (I always vacuum around my toddler and it doesn't bother her, however this one made her cry)
Bottom Line: There are some great features on the Hoover Air Series 3.0, but I'm looking for a do-it-all vacuum (esp when I spend $300) that has great suction on carpet, this one is more for hard floors.

Exactly what I've been waiting for!
Posted by: xmatt0926x from: Washington Township, NJ on
First of all, to explain why I've been on a long time search for the perfect cordless vac, let me explain my situation. I have 3 small kids and 2 dogs. I wouldn't call myself a clean freak but more so someone who just hates a dirty house.
I love my dogs but am not the classic "dog lover" who has surrendered the cleanliness of my house to my pets. I do heavy vacuuming every day, first thing in the morning and many times I spot vacuum at night. I can't stand having dirt and dog hair all over my floors with my family walking through it.
The problem with vacuuming so much is the tediousness of hauling around my massive Dyson, which is a great cleaner that I've had for 10 years, but it's a monster. And it's corded which stinks when you have many different rooms to clean.
This all brings up the need for a cordless vacuum. The problem with almost all cordless cleaners is they are typically small units with limited features and suction. Don't even think of trying to clean a carpet with one.
I do have a Hoover Lynx cordless which is a great vac with good suction but it lacks features of a full vac like a removable wand with attachments to get under couches, appliances, etc. So I've been looking for the best of both worlds. A cleaner with the portability of a cordless but also with the needed features of a full sized vacuum. Ohh, and the ability for it to run on a battery for more than 5 minutes would help.
I saw that Dyson had a nice cordless, but it's way expensive and apparently only has a 6 minute run time on full power. Not going to work.
The Hoover Air cordless has given me everything. It's not quite full sized but it's more substantial than a typical cordless stick vacuum. It has a removable wand and hose to get the tough spots, it's bagless, only about 10 lbs, and oh yeah, it has TWO batteries for a total run time of around 50 minutes if needed. Wow.
I can now grab my vac, lift it and push it with ease, not have to worry about rushing to get it done before the battery winds down, and the suction seems pretty good. I will say that I'm not cleaning heavy carpets. I have mostly laminate and ceramic floors. I have a few area rugs which this seemed fine on, but I couldn't tell you if it would do well with full on carpeting.
Overall I'm thrilled with this machine. I can go quick to my utility closet, grab this thing on a whim and have a fully charged battery ready and waiting. I can spot clean the crumbs off the floor, the dog hair wherever, and do it all quickly and with ease. No lugging out the heavy Dyson and unraveling the cord and pushing that beast around to each room.
If you're looking for a cordless vac, I just don't see what could beat this. My initial thought was that it was a little pricey but I don't know. Like I said, the Dyson cordless models are VERY expensive.
The typical stick cordless vacuums are less but they offer much less. I guess it depends on what role this type of vacuum will play for you. For me this is just about a total replacement for my standard vacuum so it's worth it to me.

Cordless is the only way to go!!!

First about the vacuum. It comes packaged so that as you unpack the batteries and accessories an explanation of what to do and the sequence is printed right there!---and assembly is not cumbersome, but rather simple and straight forward. A two in one dusting and crevice tool (two separate tools that fit together for storage), a pivoting dusting tool, the head pivots so you could actually dust the top of a ceiling fan, an extra roller for dusting hard floors, it is soft and works great on hardwood floors, you also get an extra washable filter. The batteries come pre-charged, plenty to get up and running. I did the whole house (3200 sq/ft) and still had charge left on the 2nd battery. Two switches, one for power on and off and the other for brush on and off. The brush will stop as soon as the handle is in the upright position for like using the attachments. The pivoting head makes navigating very easy. The head is low profile. I can get further under the bed and dressers than any other machine I've used. Light weight, I think it's about ten lbs.. easy to pack around by the handle. The headlight (led) is very bright and quite a help in darker rooms; The dirt canister is a one button push to empty. The soft-grip handle is comfortable and works well with the pivoting head.
Hoover did a great job, top to bottom and deserve five stars for innovation, packaging and producing a quality product! But, none of that matters if it didn't do a great job on the floors. It makes vacuuming fun!!
The best of all features--No Cord!-----I just hate that bit of dragging a cord behind, not running over it, trying to find just the right plug so you can get to the greatest area with out looking for the next plug! That is the one thing that pushes this way over the top.

This is a great vacuum. It does a great job on hardwood , carpet and linoleum floors. Does a better job on my carpet then my standard size Dyson . Great vacuum. Like the two batteries charges last a long time

Great Vacuum, even better customer service
Posted by: bandjoe from: on
So i bought this in november of last year. I really like it a lot. it does a great job on hardwood and on carpet. picks up crumbs left by my two year old with no problem at all. However a few weeks ago mine started doing some weird things, randomly turning off when using it. i called the company and they helped trouble shoot some things. turns out my unit was indeed broke, so what did they do? they just mailed me a whole brand new one, took about 3-4 days and a brand new vacuum showed up. Thats how you stand behind your product, as this is not a cheap vacuum. So does this vacuum work good, yes. Does the company take care of the consumer if needed, yes.

Almost all you can ask for.

This model has many steps up on the Hoover LiNx cordless. Far better than most any Shark - in my opinion. Dyson is Dyson. If you can go for it and spend the extra few hundred. This is close enough for 99% of people. The 2 cordless batteries DO last more than long enough for full use. On mixed floors; hardwood and carpet, multi level house. Creative steering mechanism; it takes some getting used to but once you do the flexibility and lightness are 'incredible'. I will say my one issue is it does not 'edge' as well as the LiNX. But then again, if you need to edge the on board and included tools will do the job. Roller comes out to clean brushes easy, it's worth doing that every so often. Comes with a soft roller for polishing wood finishes it seems, looks neat. Great motor, easy to clean parts, filter is fantastic. I will recommend this one to my mother. The 5 yr warranty is crucial because it just is very powerful with parts, and its lightweight. So, I could see this one cracking somewhere eventually after a few years. The warranty sealed it for me. Best floor care to all.

Good vacuum for routine cleaning
Posted by: ILoveToRead from: on
I was looking for a cordless vacuum that was lightweight and easy to operate. I wanted the vacuum to be able to transition from hardwood to tile to carpet. In addition to those requirements, I wanted the vacuum to be easy to clean and have enough power to do the job. This Hoover met all of my requirements. It's a great machine and I use it all the time for my routine cleaning.

Great product, excellent service

We were extremely pleased with this vacuum. Being battery powered it waseasy t do the house without plugging and unplugging. Although we did have a battery go bad, the customer service was outstanding. A few minutes on the phone and a new battery was sent. No need to return the old one. It came very quickly. Since the vacuum comes with 2 rechargeable batteries this was not a problem. Koudos to Hoover.

Hoover Cordless Vac 3.0
Posted by: Napoleon0469 from: on
This is a great Vac. It works well on both carpets and hard surfaces. It comes with 2 batteries, which is enough to vacuum my entire house (3700 sq ft). Since buying this vacuum we have greatly reduced the use of our ($1500) Miele Vacuum becuase the Hoover is easier to use and does a terrific job.
