Q: Do you have to have the app running on your smart phone in order to unlock the door?

A: Yes, the app must be running, and yes, if properly calibrated, you can keep the phone in your pocket. The app runs in the background and does not have to be the active app on your phone.

Q: What happens if network down. If out in yard with no keys or cell phone are you locked out?

A: It runs on bluetooth LE, so it isn't dependent on your wifi or internet connection. If you're outside without your phone, keys or a fob and the door is locked, yes you will be locked out.

Q: can you get more than two hard keys

A: Yes. You can have duplicate keys made just as you would any regular lock.

Q: eKeys

A: You can email them an ekey for free. You can also revoke that ekey once th y are done.

Q: Does this work with the iPhone 6s Plus?

A: Yes

Q: Can this lock be operated remotely via my smartphone?

A: Yes but you would need to buy the Kevo Plus adapter from the company itself. They have been out of the item for a month now. I am patiently waiting...

Q: I hate to ask a stupid question, but description on another site only lists compatibility with iPhones, is this compatible with Android phones also?

A: It does, but not all android phones are compatible. You can check phones that are compatible at their website.

Q: How long do the batteries last before needing to be replaced?

A: I've had mine for about a year now and still have not needed to change the batteries. I am using energizer batteries, also, in case brand helps you out.
