Q: Does it have a CD/DVD drive?
A: I am the person who asked this question, and I ended up buying the computer, so I can say definitively that it DOES have a CD/DVD drive. Apparently, that is what "optical drive" means, but I didn't know that.
Q: Is the 4GB RAM up-gradable to 8GB or 16GB?
A: For those confused, this has a maximum total ram uograde of 32GB, see photos below. Unit comes with only 4GB which obviously on any system is pretty bare and realy will slow any system down. As you can see from the pics from the crucial.com scan it tells you the max available you can install, and what is in either of the 2slots. Prior to upgrading the ram, it will only show 4GB in slot 1 with slot 2 empty. Fairly cheap to upgrade, as you can see my system now shows a total 20GB of total ram. 1 16GB chip and the included 4GB chip. Hope this settles the question on max upgradeable ram! The system niw boits in about 8 to 9 seconds vs the previous about 20 to 25 seconds.
Q: What operating system does this laptop have?
A: This system uses the Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system.
Q: What is the battery life, and is the lithium ion better than a lithium polomer
A: The battery life for this system is approximately 4 to 6 hours. Li-polymer offers slightly higher specific energy and can be made thinner than conventional Li-ion, which makes it more popular for today's thinner profile notebook computers.
A: Yes, there is a web cam on this system.
Q: Can you copy and paste on this, good for a high school student???
A: Yes, you will be able to copy and paste on this device. Whether it will be good for a high school student will depend on what work the student will be doing. This is a mid-range system. It will be good for Microsoft Office work, research online. If this is the type of work the student will be doing, it will be a good choice. We recommend you check with the student's school for minimum/recommend configuration for a laptop for the work they will be expected to do.
Q: My son wants something for animation & art...would this work?
A: That will depend on the software he will use. We recommend you check with the specific software publisher he will be using, for their compatibility with Windows 10 Home 64-bit and the minimum/recommended hardware requirements to run their software, then compare those requirements to this system's configuration.
Q: Is Microsoft Office installed on the laptop? Is it a trial version?
A: Yes, there is a trial version (30-day) of Microsoft Office 365 on this system.
