When you close the door, the light turns off until you start to cook/heat something. The light will stay on for the duration of the selected time and when that ends, the light goes off. Your microwave oven can be placed easily in your kitchen, family room, or anywhere else in your home but it is recommended that you allow at least 4 inches of space at the top, sides, and back of the oven for proper ventilation, free air flow around the oven is important!...IFV
