IPS PANEL
Knock it to know it.
The secret behind LG TV's superior viewing angle and quality is the panel. Just as the quality of the beans determines the quality of the coffee, the quality of the panel determines the quality of the TV. The IPS Panel used by LG is the reason why LG LED TVs have clearer, more consistent, and sturdy screens.
TRUE COLOR ACCURACY
IPS offers the most identical color impression to that of the original image in every precise pixel of HD resolution. (Tech Background: IPS panel generate accurate color of the original image. That is why IPS is widely used by professionals and broadcasts)
A: No, it doesn't support web content on it's own. I have a Roku connected to mine for that.
Q: Remote control for Model LG 49lb5550
A: Yes but it is not universal. You will need multiple remote controls if you have cable, soundbar, DVD, etc. The remote only controls the TV.
Q: Is this 220V compatible for European use?
A: Hello Lee. The LG - 49" Class (48-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - HDTV, Model # 49LB5550 is both dual voltage 100 ~ 240V and dual frequency 50/60Hz but that's half the story! Yes, the TV can be plugged into a 220V socket in Europe, but keep in mind that Europe use different types of plugs. Changing the plugs to get them to fit European sockets is the least of your concerns though because TVs marketed in the US are strictly for the NTSC broadcast system and Europe uses mostly PAL Broadcast systems or SECAM which is used by about 52 different countries and one country that uses Mescam. What that means for you is that you cannot receive local broadcasts in those countries, but if you have a multi region DVD/Blu-ray Player that will playback discs you can watch them on that TV. The only other alternative, would be to get a converter that will convert from one video signal to another. The brick and mortar Best Buys may not have them in store, but you can probably find them through their online business...IFV
Q: How far does the tv stick out from wall with stand on ,not counting front of stand
A: Look at the SONY web site which displays different views of this TV. You can see the side view there. That side view looks to me like, about, the same distance from the wall as a Wall Mount frame would require. Of course, any TV should NOT be too close to a wall or ANY FURNITURE so the TV has enough SAFE AIR CIRCULATION through it's frame. Usually, Intake Air enters from the Bottom/Front, cools the interior TV components, then Exhaust Air exits from the Top/Rear of the TV.
Q: Does it have Netflix capacity?
A: Y4our inquiry is appreciated. The LG 49" Class (8-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p -HDTV, Model # 49LB5550 comes as basic 49-Inch LED HDTV. It is not completed with Smart TV platform, 3D or any built-in wi-fi, LG 49LB5550 is a good choice for anyone looking for any “plain” TV with 49-50 Inch screen size but does not have Netflix capacity. However, if you already own separate Smart TV devices and plan to use that devices or you just need 49-inch plain TV as your gaming monitor, then LG 49LB5550 is a good choice for you with its MCI 120 and Triple XD Engine technology...IFV
Q: Will the USB power a Roku device?
A: Yes
A: 12 inches wide
Q: how do you connect a soundbar with optical and get sound going to speakers ?
A: The 'Soundbar' are the speakers, unless you're, also, connecting a Home Theater System. So, if you have 'only' the Soundbar connected via optical audio to 'only' your TV; then the TV must be turned on to activate your TV connections to other devices such as other speakers. When the TV is off, the optical cable is not functioning. Often, Soundbars now use BlueTooth and WiFi to use the Soundbar with other devices such as: AppleTV, Pandora e.t.c.
