Great 4k Display

First, this Tv is made by LG and probably only sold at Best buy. The unit I bought seems to have a Better contrast version of the panel, mine looks like a VA panel and is EYE POPPIN colorful!
looks like RGB pixels (WOHOO)
not RGBW, yuk!
It was between SAM ku6300 and THIS, I could not resist when I first saw the stack my local store had of these with the price clearly visible.
The HDR feature is a good bonus for anybody looking to get a sample of the technology. Although true HDR is technically for OLED or better, in my opinion. Therefore, I will not complain about it. Both my Ps4 (old) and XBOX ONE s recognize HDR seamlessly. Especially surprised with the sony console, they rarely pair well with full deep color enabled.
Motion flow and input lag "feel" just fine. I wish it was 120mhz but those panels sometimes come with issues of their own too. No matter their price.
Black screen uniformity is acceptable for the price.
Panel is very responsive when using LG SMART menu which is very good compared to higher end televisions.
Havent tested chroma 444 or connected pc, still enjoying my consoles before I dive into technical testing.
1. Definite must for xbox one s and PRO, if u want better, just go OLED, everything else has limitations regardless.
2. Youtube app does 4k, finally cause not even xbox one s has it.
3.Sound is good, Uncharted 4 sounds real.
4.Netflix app is good and looks high bitrate on this Tv. Finally worth the extra cost for UHD shows.
Note: potential to get an IPS because LG's website claims so.
The one I received looks like high quality VA with great viewing angles.
Also, update your tv before use, thats how u get all the features.
Takes about 2 hours.
Glad I waited for this instead of the hisense hdr, it just looks better than my other 4k.
Horizon 3 and this Tv go together.

Great Price for a Great TV
Posted by: CluelessInTexas from: on
This is my first 4K TV and I'm very impressed. The TV suits my needs and makes my games look great, playing on a PS4 and Xbox, and I will be upgrading to the PS4 pro and the Scorpio so I needed a 4K TV. The TV has HDR Pro, it's not listed on the description, don't know why, but it's included. The user interface is the best one I've seen on a Smart TV. Sound is okay could be better, but I use a sound bar and game on a headset so that isn't a negative for me. Some calibration required, but the default settings for certain modes can be edited and those were pretty good out of the box, so you don't have to spend too much time on calibrating picture settings. Overall great experience so far.

Excellent LG 4K HDR TV For an Exceptional Price
Posted by: TheBearJew2388 from: on
I was a little skeptical when I saw this on the Best Buy Black Friday Presale Ad. I wasn't expecting too much as I have ran into deals like this before but this was a steal!
-Setup: Very Ease To Setup; Install the Legs, Plug in the Power Cord, and You're Good to Go!
-Picture: Sharp Image and Great Picture; Played Some Videos off Amazon Prime Streaming in 4K and it was Amazing
-Sound: Would Recommend Adding a Soundbar/Speakers But Sound is Still Good
-WebOS: Convenient Feature to Have; Wish They Had More Apps
-WebOS Remote App: Downloaded the App to my iPhone 7+, Easy to Use But Wished There was a Keyboard Feature when Searching for Items
Only issue I had with this TV was how it sits on the leg stands. It has a slight lean but nothing too drastic. Overall this is an excellent TV for it's price. Go out and get one before they run out!!!

The hint is: get the LG TV Plus app for your phone to use as a remote control! This is an LG electronics official app. The remote control that comes with the TV is a basic one: you can move the pointer to different directions only with the four arrow buttons on the remote, which is a very slow way of doing it! Same thing if you need to type something in the search line, or if you need to fill out some info as there isn't an actual keyboard on the remote. A keyboard pops up on the TV screen anytime you need to type something and to select the letters you have to press the arrow buttons in order to move trough the keyboard. It's very slow and annoying. I think LG should've included a remote control with a small keyboard and a scroller that moves the pointer on the screen given this is a smart TV with a Web browser, search lines where often pople need to type things in and a lot of apps that are easier to be selected with a scroller and pointer. I know that they have a magic remote that comes with their more expensive models, but I think they need to include a more user friendly remote controls with all of their smart TVs as the user experience isn't the same without it.
Any way the LG TV Plus app you can download to your phone is free and can do all of the things the basic remote that came with your TV can't - you can use it as a mouse to move the pointer on the screen and as a keyboard - you basically type on your phone and goes to your TV.
Another thing people don't mention is that this TV isn't the greatest energy saver: it's close to the top of the scale of energy consuming list. Not big of a deal, bur worth mentioning.
Other than that the TV is great - beautiful picture, all of the apps people love included with ability to download more, fast operating system, easy to operate, easy to set up, browser...and the best thing of all I got it for $399 on a pre-black Friday sale. I don't think there is a better deal for a 4k 50" smart TV. We'll spend money, I'm happy with this purchase.

Has everything you need on an affordable 4k TV:
-HDR10 (works with Ps4 Pro, you just have to change DHCP to 1.4 otherwise you won't get any picture. Google how to do this)
-Internet (netflix, Hulu, Amazon video, etc)
- clean UI

Amazing 4K TV for the price!
Posted by: promitchdog from: on
I picked this up during Best Buy's black Friday sneak peak sale for only $400! For 4K, HDR, and all of the smart features, It's an amazing value that i could not pass up. I purchased this mainly because i wanted a 4K gaming display for my PC, Xbox one S, and to get ready for Xbox's Project Scorpio. This would also be a great TV to use with the PS4 PRO. This TV is great! I highly advise anyone who is in the market for a 4K TV to pick this one up before the sale ends!

Great Price for 4K & HDR

Upon purchase make sure you complete the software updates to take full advantage of the HDR, especially for PS4 Pro and XBOX One S

A good TV overall
Posted by: optimummind from: on
Upon first hooking up this TV and firing it up, I was initially disappointed by the picture quality. The images looked worse than my 4- 5-years old 46" 1080P Samsung TV. More muddy, less bright, and more motion blur. I expected some motion blur b/c the spec sheet says it has a 60 Hz refresh rate. But I only expected to see motion blur watching sports and not regular TV content.
Before deciding to return it, however, I played around with the settings and that's when things started to get better. The images were made sharper and brighter. The motion blur from regular content, however, never went away and it was still bothering me once in a while. But still, I was 90% satisfied at this point and had decided to keep the TV.
A couple days later, however, other issues began to crop up. My wifi password would become forgotten and I'd have to keep entering them with the remote which is very cumbersome and annoying. I had to do this despite receiving 3 TV software updates within a week & a half period.
Another thing I didn't like about this TV compared to my older Samsung TV was the lag that was present when cycling through setting menus. Besides the initial cold start of the TV where this TV is much faster to turn on than the Samsung, this TV just seemed laggier and slower. It felt like a downgrade despite this TV being 5 years newer and having better specs.
In the end, I returned this TV and bought another Samsung TV that was also on sale on Best Buy during the Blackfriday special.
With all that said, I still give this LG 4K TV a 4 out 5 because of the value it offered for the price I paid during the Blackfriday sale. If I had paid more than the Black Friday price, then I would've lowered my rating to a 3.

Entry level 4k TV at a Reasonable Price
Posted by: Karl4482 from: on
At $399 this TV offers excellent value for the price.
However, up-close the pixelation is awful, the 60 HZ becomes noticeable in movies and sports, and the overall image is slightly below average. WebO.S 3.0 is responsive enough, and the controller is very minimal. Sound is also average for TVs at the under $500 price mark.
Keep in mind that this is one of LG's economy models (lowest quality) before you buy.
