Q: How do I turn off the ice maker in the freezer drawer?
A: THERE IS A SEPARATE SWITCH LOCATED IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT, RIGHT ABOVE THE PLASTIC STORAGE ICE CONTAINER. YOU PROBABLY WILL HAVE TO BEND DOWN TO SEE & LOCATE THIS SWITCH WHICH IS EITHER ON OR OFF. WE NORMALLY LEAVE OURS OFF, EXCEPT WHEN WE EXPECT COMPANY, THEN WE TURN IT ON 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE TO MAKE ADDITIONAL ICE. WHEN THE SWITCH IS OFF, WE EMPTY THE ICE STORAGE CONTAINER, BUT LEAVE IT IN PLACE & USE THE CONTAINER ITSELF FOR FOR EXTRA FREEZER STORAGE SPACE.
A: Yes, it does. One is in the door and the other is located in the upper left of the freezer section. I have read a lot of reviews about other LG in door ice makers that do not produce enough ice on a daily basis. However, we're a family of four and would say we use an average amount of ice each day. A: I just completed my review in which I commented on noise. Actually it would be more accurate to talk about the LACK of noise. It is so, so quiet. Cannot even hear it running. Only sound is a VERY muffled sound when the ice empties, and then by the 5 sec sound of water filling the trays.
A: We had this problem. Even after a month our refrigerator water tasted awful. It was the plastic or electrical taste. After reading the article below we found the filter was not seated properly. Be sure to turn the filter clockwise PAST the first stop. Just keep twisting it. Then run another 2.5 gallons of water through it. Q: LG WEB SITE say this refrigerator is NOT DUAL Evaporation? Cooling System Plus is DUAL Evaporation.
A: I wish it more clear about the number of evaporators on this refridgerator. However, I cannot find a reference on the LG website that says this is a single evaporator refridgerator. In fact, it clearly states on the French door refrigerator product overview page that all LG French door refrigerators are Smart Cooling Plus (http://www.lg.com/us/kitchen/french-doors.jsp). Smart Cooling Plus has dual evaporators. However, the specs for this model say it has Smart Cooling, not Smart Cooling Plus. I have been unable to find a specification for Smart Cooling on LG's website (they do have a definition for Smart Cooling Plus). Best Buy, Home Depot, and Consumer Reports all list this model as having dual evaporators. So, the confusion persists. It would be so much easier if Dual Evaporators was a clearly listed feature in the specs. This is an important feature and should be clearly spelled out so consumers can make an informed decision (LG Marketing are you listening?).
A: I am having this same issue. The bottom ice tastes fine. The water tastes fine. The top ice maker tastes so weird! I might try to change out the water supply line from the new plastic one they made me buy, to the old copper one we had before. I read online that could solve it.
Q: Does the ice maker dispense both cube and crushed ice ?
A: Yes the in-door ice dispenser has both cubed and crushed ice however the extra ice maker in the freezer drawer only does cubed ice. However be forewarned the upper doors do not open all the way so the interior drawers are difficult to slide out and almost impossible to get out for cleaning. Also it is not easy to access the interior as the doors don't open all the way.
