Utilizing 4 high-performance antennas and power amplifiers, this Linksys Smart Wi-Fi WRT1900AC dual-band Wireless-AC router offers optimal wireless strength and signal coverage, so you can easily connect devices throughout your home or office.
A: There are issues with Linksys - Smart Wi-Fi Dual-Band Wireless-AC Router don't buy it. First problem, couldn't get the download speed. Exchanged and the second one gave me the speed. Second problem, dropped connection to my devices several times a day. I exchanged mine once and then two months later exchanged it for a different brand. Yes, it runs more than warm but not hot and you can smell the electrical odor. The odor goes away after a month or so.
Q: can it replace my comcast router/modem?
A: This is only a router, not a modem/router combination. If you buy this product you would still need a separate modem to receive the cable input.
A: No. You will still need your Fios Router/Modem. But, you can plug that into this router and it will work. You can either use the new router for your DHCP (network addresses for each PC or printer on the network) or you can shut it down and the Fios router will assign them.
Q: How far will this router reach out?
A: Hi. In a perfect wireless environment where there are no interference, the signal can go as far as 230 feet.
Q: Port Foward
A: Yes it does.
Q: Is the integrated modem a typo or is this product only a router and not both?
A: Yes it is integrated - I returned the modem that I bought at the same time. I only have it connected.
Q: Why is one $50 and another $250?
A: You are paying for technology. Older routers work with G and N wi-fi bands only. New laptops are using AC compatible radios allowing for better signal strength and less interference. The dual band allows for new AC devices and older networks to coexist. Previously, the wireless connection would be limited by the slowest wi-fi device seen by the network. Faster systems could not take advantage of the wireless network's capability. Another feature you see with equipment at this price is the abiltiy to focus signal to a device that requires extra bandwidth; e.g. streaming a video while another device is surfing the net or looking at e-mail.
Q: Is the included Ethernet cable cat 5, cat 5e, or cat 6?
A: Cat-5e Mine tested out at over a gigabit in speed and since it is a Gigabit Router that is all I needed. I have Comcast at 100mbs and Gigabit card in all my PCs. The wireless speed is incredible, And the range is insane. Live on 2 acres in an older house with concrete block walls and get good coverage any where on the property!
