I bought this remote to control my home theater setup. I have a projector, receiver, set top box, game console, and fire tv stick hidden out of sight in a closet. With this product, I was able to set up a single button to start or stop each activity. For instance, I set up one button to turn on the projector/receiver/set top box to watch tv. I set up another button to switch on the projector/receiver/Xbox combo for gaming.
The whole thing took about 30 mins to set up using my IPhone and a stable wi-fi connection. I just positioned the remote receiver near my equipment, then installed the Logitech app. The instructions on the app are very clear and walk you through the process.
Once set up was complete I had two remotes. The physical remote that came in the box and/or my iPhone app, which also works as a remote from anywhere. If you leave the tv to answer the door, you can turn everything off with the app and leave the house without going back to the room.
Great purchase, works flawlessly.

This is one remote you don't want to pass up!

I read Suoipoc's review so I decided to purchase the harmony smart control. I currently have the harmony 1100. I hated the lag, delay and the constant dead battery. I bought the 2.5 mm adapter and the Y's. took 15 min to have the hardware plugged up and the hub automatically updated the firmware once connected to my WiFi network. Since I already had a logitech account, I created a new account from my Iphone then transfered all my device settings over from my old account. Look less than a minute to do that. Total time out of the box and fully functional was less than 30 minutes. Out of all the univeral remotes I've purchased, this by far is the best. If you have some knowledge of univeral remote set up, this will be a snap. If you don't have any knowledge it'll take you a little longer to get things set up. Read Suoipoc's review, it's right on the money!

This is one sweet remote system. It allows you to use your smart phone or tablet as a remote in addition to the included mini remote. Since the mini remote uses rf and the IOS and Android devices use WiFi, you dont even have to point the remote at the hub. At first I thought the number buttons on the mini remote were too small, but as soon as I got out of the habit of pointing the remote at the TV and started holding it upright I realized the size was not a problem. The only gripe I can come up with is that if you select "Watch TV" with the mini remote and then decide you want to use the iPad to select a favorite channel, the iPad app doesn't know the tv is already on. You have to press "Watch TV" on the iPad to get to the correct screen. It's only a minor gripe since it just means one more button press, but it would be nice if the app could automatically synch with the current activity status.
I highly recommend this remote!

Not the best of ideas
Posted by: Praetoryan from: on
Wasn't impressed with the remote. Setup was easy and considering that I already had an earlier version of a Harmony remote, bringing the info over was painless. The problem however came with the fact that a lot of the features are only available via the mobile app which seems to be more of a companion app rather than another option to use. The fact that it doesn't have an LCD for adding feature buttons leaves it missing the ability to have those device functions that I'm used to using on the 600 & 700 series remotes. With this unit those features are only available via the phone app. Also found it somewhat clumsy using the app to change volume up or down. Overall I personally think the whole idea of a wi-fi remote is a good ideas seeing how it doesn't need to send a ir signal but the missing on remote functions are a huge fail. It makes it all to awkward and clumsy to use both the remote and the app.

I've been playing with the idea of a Harmony hub for a long time. I already have a 650 and an ultimate and when my 650 ended up in the wash with our comforter I decided to bite the bullet and get the smart control. I'm still playing around with it but programming activities wirelessly from you phone is WAY more convenient than plugging your Harmony into a computer to make changes. PS4 control is a great plus and this package gives the addition of a physical remote as well so all in all I'm very pleased so far. There's a bit of initial setup involved but it's very easy if you can follow instructions the app will walk you through all of it. Must buy for those of us that use our game consoles as entertainment hubs as well.

Awesome remote, almost awesome app
Posted by: Ironjaiden from: on
This is probably the best functioning Harmony remote I've owned. When I hit the activity buttons everything switches quickly and accurately. The inclusion of Bluetooth in the hub makes it possible to control my PS3 without a separate IR receiver. I've got the hub tucked back on a shelf in the media console and it's able to send clear signals to devices on other shelves and the TV mounted on the wall above. The only reason I gave this remote 4 stars instead of 5 is the somewhat awkward smartphone app. It's not terrible but it's not the most intuitive thing in the world either. Luckily that part of the package is the easiest to upgrade later and I'm sure Logitech will iron out the wrinkles once the feedback starts rolling in. All in all a great purchase.

Everything i could ask . Perfect.

Was seeking a value controller to turn on my equipment accurately and simultaneously behind a built in cabinet that utilized radio frequency vs infrared to make it work. This controller did the job magnificently. What's more when I had trouble programming the controller I called the manufacturers help line and they directed me perfectly to set it all up nicely. The controller itself is easy to use and fits nicely in the hand to manage all my cable to video to music needs Couldn't of asked for a better outcone on a small budget.

Took a little bit to get going, but it works great

I have a pretty crazy setup in my basement with a bunch of different A/V products from VCR to Laserdisk player, Blu-ray as well as Amazon Fire TV. I was looking for something that I can use with everything. Finally came across this one. It had some problem with my projector which was not listed, but I was able to program the remote after a few failed attempts. Ultimately the programming turned out to be pretty simple - I was thinking I had to program every button one at a time, but if you start with the power button and get it to successfully turn it on and off, the rest should work fairly seamlessly. I contacted support and they also added the device to their list of supported devices, but by that time I had already programmed it successfully so I stayed with the setup I have.
So now I can control my projector, receiver, VCR, laserdisk player, Blu Ray player, Set top box and Fire TV - all with one remote! Woo hoo!
Only problem I have is that the remote is not backlit, so its often difficult to find the right key in the dark, and I don't like having to turn on the light just to find where the fast forward is.
There is no separate key for fast forward (rewind) and next/prev chapters. You push and hold the FF key to activate next chapter. Has given me some fits as well.
Otherwise, its awesome!

Lack of Sync
Posted by: Riki from: St Louis,MO on
The system setup was fairly straight forward and the software for my iPhone and iPad worked quite well. The problem I had was I could not get the remote to sync with the hub. Will be returning it.

This is a nice remote that can easily handle a small home theater. I have a TV, Apple TV and Bose sound system setup and doing flawlessly with the remote. The only minor bummer is no backlight on the remote but I understand that would come at the expense of battery life.
Setup was easy via the Harmony app on my iPhone and only took a few minutes of time. If you have a fairly simple home theater setup then this remote deserves a look..
