Exactly what I needed
Posted by: DesignDaddy from: Arizona on
I'm a graphic designer and I was developing severe symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, to the point where it was effecting my work.
I purchased the Performance MX because of it's ergonomic attributes. About a month after using my new mouse I came to a startling realization... my forearm and wrist no longer ached like it did with my conventional Mac mouse.
That alone was worth the price.

Not one regret
Posted by: Shane03 from: Kalamazoo, MI on
I like it all. The mouse fits my hand nicely, the buttons are easily used and it has great signal reception. I can lye in my bed and use the mouse on my comforter with no problems! Then you add in the rechargeable aspect and it gets better. What I did not know when I bought it is that it comes with a little case to carry the cords for recharging, which includes USB cable, USB extension cable and an adapter so you can charge it in a standard household electrical outlet. One of the coolest features I found was totally unexpected. My desktop is set to go to sleep mode after a few hours. Naturally, when I am done, I turn off the mouse. If my computer goes to sleep mode I can turn the mouse back on and it brings my computer from sleep.

Easy to Install and Easy to Use
Posted by: MountainHigh from: Denver, CO on
I actually purchased this mouse to replace one that I had previously owned that was damaged in a mishap.
I use this particular mouse for gaming primarily and the quick response time is a must. This mouse is easy to use, the way it is designed is fantastic. The way that it fits the hand is very comfortable not to mention it holds a charge for a good long time.

Almost awesome, but awful middle button
Posted by: DrewM from: Wisconsin on
Overall this is a comfortable, functional, and well thought-out mouse.
However, the middle mouse button is really not right. Unless you click it at just the right angle the click won't register. Worse for my usage needs (gaming and graphic design programs), when clicking the middle button it's very easy to accidentally trigger the mouse wheel. That can be awfully when you're gaming or working in Adobe Creative Suite.
It's slick that the wheel comes with two levels of resistance, one for fast smooth scrolling, and another for the more traditional graduated scrolling with resistive clicks. However, even in the traditional mode the wheel doesn't offer enough resistance, so it was far too easy for me to trigger scrolling.
If the middle button & wheel weren't so important for my uses I'd be very happy. As it is, though, I'm returning it.

My hand is now un-cramped
Posted by: RCJones from: Santa Rosa, CA on
I have been using mice since the original MacIntosh from the 80s, and I always thought that my hand just had to hurt. We have ergonomic keyboards - why don't we have mice that don't make our hands cramp? This is the first mouse - Apple or otherwise (I have both PCs and Macs) that is ergonomic. I had no idea I was living this long with bad mice. Bonuses - wireless, rechargeable, can recharge while still using, USB dongle is super small (small enough to leave it in) and it works on any surface - even on my glass desk. I was looking for a blue tooth mouse, but I've got to be honest, blue tooth mice lose their connection all the time - this one (although not blue tooth) is not like that - plug it in and it's ready to go - no waiting, no pairing. Buy this mouse - your hand will thank you, it's worth the money.

Faulty hardware... your mileage may vary
Posted by: ulubacho from: LA on
There are batches of this mouse (confirmed from Logitech forums) that don't work properly in wireless mode. Basically, the mouse goes to sleep after 10 seconds of idle time. Then when you move it, nothing happens on the screen for about 3 seconds (frozen mouse pointer). This is very frustrating and makes the mouse virtually unusable. I curse the Logitech quality assurance department every time this happens, for letting these faulty mouses get to store shelves. A lot of people have complained about the same problem on the Logitech forums. Some were lucky, returned the mouse and get a new one which had this fixed... YMMV. Unfortunately, I'm outside my warranty and return window.. Upgrading firmware, device driver, etc is of no use... this appears to be a hardware issue. This problem does goes away if your mouse is hooked up directly through the USB charger cable (seems like a poorly designed and non-configurable power saving feature in wireless mode only). I now use this mouse in wired mode only. Now, any decent manufacturer would have identified faulty batches and proactively recalled them off store shelves. Or at least have their support personnel replace the mouse for free with a working one when they get complaints... but no, you're going to have a tough time explaining the problem to a Logitech rep on the phone and convincing him/her that it is indeed a hardware problem that warrants a complete mouse replacement. My advice, stay away from this mouse if there are other options. Or, if you do get it, test it within your return window as mentioned above and make sure you didn't get one of the faulty ones. Needless to say, my opinion of Logitech as a brand has gone down and I will opt for better quality brands when I have a choice.

Very comfortable mouse, great for all day use.
Posted by: Scotty from: on
I love the mouse and I only have two things to comment on. The first is that the battery life is about a week on a charge with normal use and I kind of expected it to last longer but that is way it is rechargeable. I love that you can charge the mouse while you are using it (Just becomes a corded mouse with the included cable). Ok so here is my one problem with the mouse, there are three thumb buttons one of these buttons is the zoom and right on top of that are the back and forward buttons and it is hard to hit the back button because you always get the zoom button. I would have just separated them more.

Best mouse I've had, BEWARE the DEFECTIVE ONES!
Posted by: Nullhumanoid from: Panama City, FL on
No need to repeat what others have said. This mouse is highly accurate and rechargeable. I've had MANY mice over the last 20 odd years from the old ball mice, to optical, wireless, and even Microsoft's best ergonomic. This is the best. Great for gaming, graphics editing, and everything else.
Now I did have one of the DEFECTIVE ones at first, and had to swap. So if you get one that falls asleep every 10 sec. and takes 3 seconds to wake back up, and drains batteries in 3 hours, TAKE IT BACK IMMEDIATELY and swap. Logitech will take a week of emailing just to get them to admit it is defective, and take days to weeks to swap it via UPS.
Despite a bad batch of these mice on the market (quickly vanishing) I would still recommend it. I took mine back as soon as I realized this was not normal and talking to Logitech's lame customer support. Best Buy swapped it for me, and got the exact same mouse. But it was on sale for $20 less than I just paid for it, and the guy at Best Buy gave me the $20 and change difference! So it was very worth it to get a GREAT mouse.
Don't let the defective ones scare you. If you get one, just swap. The mouse is WORTH IT!

Great while it works, but doesn't last.
Posted by: LHallfin from: Minnesota on
Fantastic Mouse, a little expensive, but it feels great and works great... until it breaks.
Very hardcore gamer but I still expect at least two years from a mouse and this one only lasted one.
The right mouse button begins to give out making it impossible to click and hold, cruicial to a lot of games.
The rechargable battery is a step backward from rechargable cameras and cell phones, pretty much designed to die quickly.
Contacts wear out on both the charging base and the mouse itself making it (along with the battery problems) incredibly hard to charge.
Maybe I shouldnt complain, I did get hundreds and hundreds of hours of use out of this mouse, but honestly I would expect at least 1000 hours for 100 dollars.
Wont buy again.
p.s. Razors brand mice have the same problems, works great, breaks fast.
