Great Option For Small Spaces
Posted by: HomeBound from: on
My husband and I live in a small apartment. The W/D hookups are in the basement, but, I can't get down there without help and forget trying to do it carrying heavy baskets. The washing machine was quickly delivered by UPS. It fits in a space in our bathroom. The washer comes with everything needed to use it, but, we bought a Y Washing Machine Mixer hose so we could attach a hose to both the hot and cold inlets. We also used Teflon tape, to seal the connections and upgraded the inlet hose to Stainless Steel. The washer is permanently placed on an appliance dolly to make moving it to the kitchen sink easier. It hooked up to our sink easily. We use Tide Pods and drop them in before we add any items. The drum holds up to two queen-sized sheets and four standard pillowcases. Liquid fabric softener is added, while the machine is filling up for its final rinse, 12 minutes before the regular cycle ends. This washer cleans very well and is very quiet. The spinning action, after the regular 42 minute cycle, spins the clothes very dry. This makes drying the clothes in the small Magic Chef dryer easier too. This washer was a great purchase. The only regret we have is not buying it sooner.

Quiet - it is not!
Posted by: Valerie7 from: on
Ok, so my review title may be a little bit misleading but here's the deal (and I wish other reviews had mentioned this!) The machine is awesome BUT it sounds like a jet engine as it's taking off while it's in the spin cycle. JET ENGINE. I kept wondering when my neighbors were going to come pounding on my door - and then wondered if I would even be able to hear them over the machine. Other than the spin cycle though, the machine IS pretty quiet. My new quest is to find out how to not use the spin cycle but still get most of the water out of my clothes. It's a little bigger than I had thought (my fault for not measuring) but it gets items super clean and honestly - I love it! It's big enough to take on quite a bit and I will say - with the spin cycle most things don't take long to dry and I don't have a dryer. I hang things up and simply use a fan. Without the spin cycle remains to be seen. I will note that the manual is pretty lame - I am going to go online to figure out what all the different cycles are/mean and see if anyone has ideas on how to deal with the noise issue.

Best thing ever

I was a little hesitant on purchasing this washer. But then I had enough courage to just buy and take a chance. Best decision ever. I have 3 kids so my laundry would get full really fast. This machine cleanes 10 x better then and expensive machine out there. It's very easy to use and washes each load 42-32-10 min . Your choice. If you live in a condo or apt and tired of leaving the house and spending tons of money. Buy this. Clothes dry better on a Rack I bought from Walmart. Great investment

Should have bought one a while ago

I received the box and it was in great shape. I wrestled it home, unpacked it, and it had a dent. I don't really care about it as I am only really concerned about how it works. I hooked it up- manual was not very helpful but I figured it out. The sink end leaked but I went to the hardware store and got the correct faucet attachment. I hooked it up again and did laundry and it works amazingly!!! It is quieter than I thought and much bigger than I thought,. I just wish it had wheels. The wash cycle runs strong, rinse is thorough, and the spin is a very good spin- my clothes come out close to dry.
I like that I can control the water temp with the faucet and add fabric softener when I want.

Love this washer!

I purchased my washer about a week ago and although best buy quoted that I would get my appliance in two weeks I received it in one week so that was a bonus. Now the washer- its great. It does exactly what its supposed to do. I'm not mechanically inclined at all and I had no trouble setting it up even though the directions were really really vague. My clothes are coming out clean and fresh and the spin cycle is the bomb because they come out almost dry. I can wash up to 8 large towels (fluffy towels) which would be just under over filling it and can comfortable wash 6 large fluffy towels which would leave room for a lot of wash clothes. I can wash two weeks worth of clothes for my four year old and he's a big boy and about a week of clothes for myself and I'm a size 18 female. My only complaint is that the wheels are not really portable- they are two small and there is only two on the back. The machine is bigger than I thought it would be, the basin is about the size of a small round laundry basket (except a little taller in length). I recommend that you watch the drainage hose because it can fall off the sink and flood your floor- so it's better if you put something on top of it to avoid that. Also since the washer doesn't have a middle agitator there are other agitators along side the middle of the machine that get the clothes very clean and redistributes the water throughout the bottom and top of the machine (hard to visualize but its great) but the clothes can get tangled- I avoid this by not over filling and NOT loading the clothes in a circle, I simply drop them in but the wrinkling is not bad at all- if you have more gentle items I would say put them in a washable laundry bag. Happy washing!!

Great machine for small spaces and small families

I am happily surprise with the machine. It washes well. I can fit up to 14-15 Tshirts per load or complete set of king size bed sheets... Make almost no noise.

Very nice for a small apartment.

I never like going to laundromat so purchasing a washing machine was always a tedious task living in an apartment. This washing machine is quiet and efficient.

Total Game Changer!
Posted by: Trish from: on
After 5 years of dealing with laundry mats and sub-par apartment building laundry rooms, we purchased this washing machine. It has literally made our home-life a million times more peaceful. We set it up in our kitchen, near our sink. We hook it up when we need to use it, unhook it when we don't. It holds much more laundry than we thought it would, gets even the dirtiest laundry very, very clean. I'm glad it fit well next to our sink and that the hoses happened to be long enough, because I don't think we'd love it as much if we were trying to use it as a "portable" machine. But, set up as it is, my husband and I love it. I read complaints that it's too loud, but it sounds just like our dish machine. You need a reasonable solution to dry your clothes #though the spin cycle gets everything nearly dry!# We set up a laundry line on our balcony and our clothes come off the line in an hour dry and smelling like sunshine. Wish we'd purchased this machine 5 years ago!

Perfect washer for me!
Posted by: Brenjo731 from: on
Last October I bought an RCA washer. I sure wish I had learned to read reviews before I bought that washer! It lasted 5 months, then just stopped pumping the water out during a rinse cycle. Trying to get any English speaking help was next to impossible. It took me 2 months to finally get a refund.
I learned a valuable lesson and read reviews before deciding on this Magic Chef 1.6 cu ft portable washer. This washer is amazing! It has many different settings and cycles. It's big enough to adequately wash my king size sheets and pillow cases. Right away I noticed a small white cap missing, one that covers a screw. I contacted the phone number I found in the instruction booklet ,and was speaking to someone right here in the USA. I told him about the missing cap and he sent it out right away! Happy happy joy joy! I am very pleased to know if I have any issues in the future I will be able to contact this company without any problems.
Did I mention that this Magic Chef washer is very nice looking? That's very important when you live in a small space.

Very Impressed With Magic Chef
Posted by: Gamerpro from: on
My fascination with compact washers began initially researching Amazon reviews about competitors like Panda and Haier. I decided to go with Magic Chef for both my washer and dryer. The number one reason I got this model is because it has BOTH the full size cold / hot water connection fittings AND the sink faucet fitting. This washer works great and has a larger capacity load than the 1.6 cu. ft. number sounds. It does my whole laundry basket load, perfect washer for one or two person in an apartment. With this one, I don't feel that the load space got compromised with it's compact size. Very simple to use, very quiet and spins clothes almost dry. I've had expensive full sized washers in the past and had to sell my last one cheap not to move it. Although it's 36" tall, it's only 20" wide. Much smaller than full size and could be pack it up one day in the back seat of a car. Lucky to get it on sale at lower price than Walmart, but worth the few weeks I waited for this model to be back in stock as it was sold out for a while.
