Q: Will this tripod hold a Nikon 3100, with a 200 mm lens steady?
A: Yes I use my manfrotto with my Nikon D5300 & Nikkor 70-300mm lens. While it does hold the weight quite well I would be sure to use a counterweight for extra center pull. I use my camera pack. And I always make sure I have a leg out in front of the camera in the direction I am shooting to compensate for the lens weight. Hope this answer helps.

A: It goes upto 6ft but I don't trust it at that height for stability or fir long exposures. And no can't got to ground level.

A: Yes, their is a knob that locks so only pans left to right 360 degrees.
