Slick modern looks, works great
Posted by: LennyJr from: Houston, TX on
The modern look and function of this mouse are what drew me to it, and the function is great. I had some Reward Zone cash that was burning a hole in my pocket and I remembered seeing this mouse on CES coverage and thought it would be a cool mouse for my laptop.
Some of the problems that people are having are probably due to still getting acclimated to the unique design of this mouse. I will also have to say that if you have smaller hands it may not be the mouse for you. The buttons do not click easily on the rearward 2/3 and the scroll takes a day or so to get used to. My better half has small hands and said it would be a little more difficult to work on all day than a standard mouse. I used the the intro activities on the Microsoft website to help acclimate myself (included in package).
Overall I'm very impressed that the mouse works on almost any surface, many that I struggled to get a standard optical mouse to work on, and the low profile storage that slides into my laptop case easily. I would definitely recommend this mouse to anyone looking for a great traveling mouse that looks cool too.

Took a chance on it and I really like it.

I needed a mouse for my new work laptop and wanted something that had a Nano receiver as well as long lasting on batteries. The sales associate sold me on this having me play with it for a few minutes; I have to say i love how it is off when you fold it flat. Cool design and it has been easy to get used to at work (is used as primary mouse) as well as on the go it has worked on all types of surfaces.
I am glad I tried it.

this mouse is the most user friendly device i have used in some time. its euro design and rich looking materials makes it very appealing on my desk. it has a very quick response when working on apps. very sensitive at times but quickly corrects itself. i am enjoying my new arc.it is like it was made for my hand. thanks microsoft.

Great, slick mouse.

Its purpose is mobility. Use it for that. Not really meant for day-to-day power users.

Could not as for a better mouse

This mouse is fantastic. It is very smooth and accurate. I havent found a surface it wont work on. the touch to scroll feature works better then i thought, actually i have found myself really liking it. Yes 70 bucks for a mouse seems a bit pricey but when you use this mouse you will know right away where every dollar went. the quality is excellent, no corners were cut. Give it a try, I will bet you like it as much as I do.

This is a great product. No compatibility problems with Windows 7. Plugged it in and it worked. Love the shape and the range. It's the Ferarri. Folds flat to fit in a laptop bag and shuts the off at the same time. Can't comment on the battery life yet as I've only had for three weeks but have used it daily in the office and no problems.

I like the original Arc Mouse better
Posted by: stadt11 from: Iowa on
I gave this one a try when it went on sale last week for $39, my old/original Arc Mouse died after a few years of use.
This review is primarily a comparison between what I was use to with the original Arc Mouse (I'll just continue calling it Arc Mouse in this review), compared to this new Arc Touch Mouse (I'll continue calling it Touch Mouse).
The contour of the Arc Mouse was easier on my wrist, it had a nice curve to it. The Touch Mouse has a high curve around your palm area then slants straight to your fingers, this didn't feel comfortable to me.
The buttons on the Touch Mouse are stiff, not as forgiving as the Arc Mouse. You can touch anywhere on the Arc Mouse left/right buttons (whether it was towards the front of the button, in the middle, or the back towards your palm, it didn't matter, it would still click with ease). The Touch Mouse didn't respond well to middle clicks (it rarely clicked when trying it towards the back of the button), and you had to be sure to click all the way at the front of the mouse to get it to respond correctly.
The Touch Mouse, although the concept is a nice idea, has a v1.0 affect for the touch scroll wheel, it has some improvement to do. If you barely tap it, like you're not sure if you're going to scroll or just rest your finger there, it will immediately display the Auto Scroll on screen. Also, I do a lot of CTRL+Click, and if my window is not done scrolling if I flicked the Touch scroll, then if I did a CTRL+Click too soon my screen zoom goes into affect (whether it zooms in or out, then I have to go up to the menu to reset the zoom).
Lastly, the folding (or lack thereof) of the new Touch Mouse is not nearly as good as the Arc Mouse. I love how the Arc Mouse collapsed around itself, whereas the Touch Mouse folds flat. Also, the Arc Mouse has a nice pocket to place the receiver in. The Touch Mouse just has a magnet on the back of it to hold it on, and then when it's in the laptop bag it can get lost easily.
I hope this review is helpful to some, I really couldn't find any reviews comparing the 2 different versions of the Arc before I bought it, so I went ahead and bought one and decided to write a comparison between the 2.
I'll stick with the original Arc Mouse, I have since returned this Arc Touch Mouse back to Best Buy.

Perfect for road use.
Posted by: Narg from: USA on
I was about to write this mouse off because I didn't see that it had a location to store the USB plug. Then, unusual for me I read the instructions. :) I love the magnetic storage for the USB plug. Great idea. Overall, I'd call this the perfect mouse for road warriors. It's a great size while travelling, and is so easy to setup and use. This is my second mouse though, as it did wear out on the arc after a while. But, most mice I usually wear out just about as quick anyway. The scrolling touch feature is well balanced, and usually gets comments when I use it. I do wish it were a tad bit quieter. Overall though, I can't imagine using any other mouse while on the road.

I am very hapy with the purchase, only con would be price and some cocern over how long the on/off will last . everyone in my office is envious of the profile. The mouse is a great complement to a laptop and ectremely mobile. Nice to "stick" in the pocket and take to meetings vs having to use the old touch pad on the laptop. Highly recommend......

Great for road warriors
Posted by: RonATL from: Atlanta on
I've had this mouse for about 1.5 years now. I travel weekly so it takes up almost no space in a laptop bag. The buttons did take some getting used to but after a couple of uses it becomes natural. Great conversation piece too when people see it. The down side is my USB dongle receiver stopped working. I'm going to go buy another of these mice though, will just keep one in my bag and one on my desk. Can't beat this for traveling.
