Solid performance and easy setup!

The C6250 is a solid modem router. I was looking for something with 2-in-1 functionality as I do not have a lot of space for multiple devices. That said, I am pleased with the speeds I was receiving using this router via Time Warner Cable. I have the highest speed plan (300mbs) so this router was perfectly able to deliver those speeds wirelessly to multiple devices in my home. I was pleasantly surprised by the wifi performance even at the other end of my home where other routers I've used simply could not deliver strong signal. This device's range is better than I expected for a modem router (i.e. normally there's a compromise on wifi performance in my experience)
Setup was easy as stated in the title. You really can just plug it in and connect it to your internet. The Netgear genie does the rest through the simple setup wizard.
Please note that I received this product for free in conjunction with my participation in the Netgear Friends & Family program - as such this is my unbiased review.

Fast and Easy
Posted by: Newcastle from: on
The installation was easy and I had it up and running very quickly once out of the box. My main router/modem is a Netgear Nighthawk C6300 and while this one is not as powerful I am still getting very fast speeds and a reliable connection. I haven't had to reset it yet and have been using for about a month now.
The guest network access feature is really convenient. Also the available usb input for a external drive allows to to add a network drive and back-up/access files which is also super convenient.
The parental block is also slightly easier to use than most other routers/modems.
One con I found was that it only has 2 ethernet ports, but many people will utilize the wifi.
Overall the price to performance ratio is great on the C6250. I would recommend this to anyone who was a modem - router all in one and is searching for fast and reliable speeds at a decent price.

Great Product!! Worth the value

If you want the Nighthawk but are hesitant because your internet speeds don't go as fast as the nighthawk does, then this is what you want! I only pay for 150mbs and the 5ghz network gets 175 mbs on the other end of my APARTMENT.

Outstanding Modem/Router Combo!
Posted by: Donkey from: on
If you are looking for a modem to replace a leased one from Time Warner, look no further! The NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1600 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6250) is superior to the rental modem from Time Warner and is extremely easy to setup. Plus it comes with a built in Nighthawk router that is exceptional.
Setting up this device was a snap. Once the modem was registered with Time Warner, it was ready to be connected to the internet. The C6250 is capable of being set it up in a simple configuration but also contains the features to accommodate a more complex setup. If you are the type of person who is looking for the “easy button”, you can connect to the device using the built in “Push ‘N’ Connect (WPS) security setup. However, the user interface to configure the router is very user friendly and the menus are in logical order making the setup process a breeze.
This DOCSIS 3.0 modem/router combo comes with a number of neat features like the ability to setup a guest network (so you don’t have to give out your password) and the ability to disable the network activity with the push of a button when it is not in use. It also comes with an app (Netgear Genie App), which allows you to monitor and manage your network from a mobile device (iPhone, iPad, Android) or a PC/Mac.
The C6250 is extremely powerful and successfully sends the WiFi signal throughout both stories of my 2,600+ square foot home. The WiFi signal is equal to, if not greater than, the output I got from my previous standalone WiFi router. My current internet plan is for 100 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up and I am able to capture these speeds on both wired and WiFi connections. I typically get a little faster download speeds when utilizing the 5GHz band compared to the 2.4GHz band. However, the slower 2.4GHz band speeds can likely be contributed to the number of devices I have utilizing this band. With the simultaneous dual band output of this device, you can connect using either.
One of the neatest features of this device is the USB connection. The USB connection gives you the ability to connect an external hard drive and access it from any device on the network. I think it is really cool to have a local storage device on the network without being required to carry it around with your laptop and or having to pay for an expensive NAS device.
I think that this modem/router combo was intended to either be used primarily as a WiFi router or in conjunction with a switch as it only provides 2 hardwired Ethernet, gigabit connections. I currently use a switch to accommodate my multiple wired connections for the upstairs devices and leverage the strong WiFi signal for my downstairs devices. Since the WiFi signal travels so far, I haven’t even noticed it.
If you are looking for a solid modem/router combo to provide a solid signal throughout a large area, I would strongly recommend the C6250 as it provides rapid speeds with excellent coverage. I received the C6250 for free as part of NETGEAR’s First Look Review Program.

I recently purchased a Netgear AC1600 router to support my internet, TV, and phone bundle from Tim Warner. With the 1600 speed, I can accommodate multiple devices effectively. It's great owning my own router to support my internet, TV, and phone; in this way, I avoid the $10 monthly fee to rent a router from Time Warner. Switching to Time Warner at a great bundle price was a great decision since the representatives are very knowledgeable and explain all the details in the bundle. Their recommendation to purchase my own router was a great idea.

Great product to meet dual purpose and save space!
Posted by: cstubbs10 from: on
Overall, this product is exactly what I need in my setup. My old setup involved a separate modem and router, and the combination of the two in this one product is incredible.
Starting from the setup, everything was super easy. I was able to plug in the product to my cable line and begin activation and configuration with ease. It doesn't take a tech expert to discover how to set this product up!
Once connected, I was able to navigate through the router configuration to rename my router set the updated password. After everything was configured, the range reached every part of my house, even when the router/modem was located at one end of my home. And, performance was great! I tested multiple devices, streaming HD video and I never experience any reduction in resolution or any buffering. Seems like it can handle a full load of data at any given point.
Another great feature is the dual-band setup, which allows users to setup some devices on one band and reserve the second band for data-heavy devices like my Apple TV.
Overall, for the price, this product is great if you are needing a cable modem and router. Purchasing both products separately would likely cost more than this combination device in order to get the same results. While I did receive this product for free as a part of a testing program, I am leaving this product in my current setup, and I would certainly recommend this product to anyone looking for a modem/router combination!

Really Disappointed in both Best Buy and Netgear
Posted by: Zara from: on
I set the thing up and only found that it didn't work. So I called Netgear customer service. After hours of talking, we eventually came to a conclusion that the product is a defect. As a result, Netgear sent me another one (a refurbished one) for free. However, it was another defect. I was so disappointed and would like to make a return and ask for a refund. However, Netgear didn't provide any refund so they just pointed me to Best Buy. But Best Buy refused as well with a "strong" reason as it is beyond the 15 days limit. I cannot believe that both Best Buy and Netgear agree that a product defect is a customer's fault!

Keep having to reset it. I do like the look and that it is all-in-one. This helps to save money and fits in with my living room decor.
