Doesn't actually heat hot dog.
Posted by: INGamer13 from: Evansville, IN on
It does a good job of toasting the buns but the hot dogs come out at about the same temperature you put them in. I either run the hot dogs through once without the bun and then with the bun or microwave the hot dogs a little before putting them in. Also, you have to use really skinny hot dogs as anything of even average size will stick in the hot dog holder. Kid's seem to get a kick out of it though.

Piece of junk!

This product looks great! However it does not heat your hot dogs at all. I had to run one hot dog three times in order to feel that it was warming it. Very dissapointed.

I love the hot dog toaster!

I love my hot dog toaster! I would recommend it to anyone who wants hot dogs quick and easy. They don't taste like broiled hot dogs they taste like they have been thrown on the grill! I haven't had any problems with it but I do agree it takes about 2 cycles to FULLY cook or at least it looks cooked but the cycles are so quick that you don't mine waiting.

Ok, this will never be something that anyone ever will really need. I happen to have a youngster in the house though that loves to help make the hot dogs for lunch or supper every once in a while.
For our purposes, this thing hotdog toaster works great. I have time to get drinks ready and get the table set while the dogs are toasting. It is not as quick as a microwave oven of course but I cannot get toasted hot dog buns out of the microwave either.
All in all, this product works well for us, it doesn;t take up too much counter space and the little one can actually take part in the preparation of our lunch once ina while, which is cool.
The edges of the buns toast first and I usually like to run the dogs twice before they are really hot, but all in all, I would buy this toaster again.

Looks great, good & fun idea, poor implementation

Bought this for my son's dorm as he loves hot dogs. We tried it at home and the buns get toasty and the wieners are cool/cold on the inside. The instructions recommend room temperature wieners but in reality a short few seconds in the microwave to heat up the inside is more what is necessary before toasting the outside skin.
It's more trouble than it's worth and the build quality is suspect. I understand outsourcing to a low cost manufacturer, but you can pay too little to get something done. There's no value in this product and I'd paid 1.5-2X the price point I paid had it worked and had a better build quality.
It's cute and retro looking...but that's where it starts and ends.

Necessary for hot dog lovers

Allows you to step away from the stove and do other things while your hot dogs are warming up. You might have to put the hot dog in a little longer than the bread but other than that not much of a problem.

Only heats one hot dog (maybe), then needs to cool off for 15 minutes or so.

I thought maybe this was more of a talking piece, but it works really well and easy to use.
