Does exactly what its supposed to do

Protects your gear and does it in an effecient, stylish & practical way. I.e. no clunky power strip behind your rig. This component piece makes power cord management a breeze. It’s a full size component, so make sure you have the room for it on your stand / rack. Eliminates speaker popping & hiss, television & cable noise. It filters everything. This replaces a bulky Monster power strip that died during a surge. (did its job, but no reset) Purchased the Panamax after reading nothing but glowing reviews about it and its predecessor.

Great power conditioner and surge suppressor
Posted by: Rav7ks from: Maryland on
I have purchsed 2 other panamex power conditioner/surge suppressors before and have been very satisfied with them- the first one I bought back in 2007 still is working well. I notice no flickering of the TV during lightning storms and having the equiment protected with this device gives me a peace of mind. I wanted to upgrade to a newer model to help support a projector, receiver, amplifier, 2 subs and 2 blu ray players as well as a video processor. The MR-5100 is one of the latest out by Panamex and has stage 4 filtration for cleaner power. In addtion, this does help with a slight improvement in picture and sound.

So far so good with Pananax protective ring!
Posted by: AdamD from: Peoria, IL on
I've lost a AVR, DTV HD-DVR, 2 routers and a switch in total on separate occasions last year due to power / lightning surges. I've since added a MR5100 (home theater - HDTV, AVR, Bluray, DTV Genie, Laptop & switch), M4LT-EXs (router, NAS, PC & switch) and MD2-Cs (cable modem, switch, HDTV & DTV receiver) to create a Panamax protective ring around my wired (CAT6) network and connected equipment. I've NOT had any issue since I've integrated the Panamax equipment.
I researched and called Panamax a handful of times. They answered most of my questions immediately on the phone and consulted their engineers on one occasion then called me back.
I've found cheaper vendors online, but Best Buy (Magnolia - AUTHORIZED DEALER) was able to match the reasonable prices from *that river in South America*.
The key is to purchase from an authorized dealer and create a overall protective ring so you will NOT void the connected equipment warranty from Panamax.
In total, I've spent as much as I would've on an extended warranty for my TV alone. However, I feel that all of my connected equipment are better protected this way.

As usual an outstanding piece of safety equipment
Posted by: wilcan from: Tampa, FL on
I have been a Panamax user for over 20 years and to date have found no other unit that is as strong and usuable as they are. Is it possible that there are better power/surge protectors out there, I am sure there are, but with my experience I would not use any other unit in it's place

Great Entertainment Center Surge Protector
Posted by: Chuna4 from: Los Angeles on
We were looking around for a good surge protector that would allow up to 11 outlets being plugged in. The reviews on Best Buy were very good for this unit and we picked it up on sale at Best Buy. Then we found it online at Amazon.com for about $40 cheaper and Best Buy price matched it and refunded us the difference. Very happy with the unit and like the digital display on the front of the unit.

Nicely completements my media center
Posted by: FKilliam from: on
I purchased this unit in Best Buy because they are a certified vendor and that is required to enforce the shock insurance. Is a very practical device, protect all my key audio devices at the time that provides a complete and armonious appearance.

Reference Power Center

Panamax makes by far some of the best surge and power filtering for the price. This power center is reliable and works flawlessly.

Excellent Protection for your High End Equipment
Posted by: bestbuyfan71 from: Franklinville, NJ on
It's a bit pricey but worth every penny to protect you High End Equipment! Plug and Play, it's that easy! Iit monitors the power levels to your TV, Stereo, DVD player and anything else you plug in to it. I get peace of mind knowing that all the money I spent on my TV, Stereo, DVD player are protected from power surges. Also, peace of mind knowing that it equals out the power level to each piece of equipment I own to extend the life of my equipment too! Worth every penny!

Nice A/V improvements
Posted by: AVGuy from: on
I did a ton of research before buying into improvements the 5100 would make. From what I found Panamax improved the specs since this model hit the market. It's basically the 5400 now with less inputs and visual monitoring. Nobody can tell you how much or little this product will improve your A/V equipment because they can't account for how clean the electricity in your home is. Many factors could cause issues.
What I found was after hooking this up to my Samsung HU8550, Denon receiver and TiVo was it improved a few things. My audio was the biggest jump. A good amount of surround sound that got muffled or barely came through are now much cleaner and smoother sounding. Clearly in my case the receiver wasn't getting the proper juice that it needed to reach its full potential. I made sure to watch a movie I knew the audio inside and out so to say I was surprised once those effects started up would be an understatement.
From the video end I'd have to say slightly improved. There is less digital noise on sporting events. Certain channels I knew if the game was on I needed to turn on the digital noise/MPEG smoothers in the tv options. Since installing the 5100 that hasn't been the case.
I can't comment on the actual surge protection to this point but from what I've read this unit will take a beating and Panamax will give a replacement if it couldn't handle the surge. I lost a Pioneer Kuro plasma due to an electrical surge that went on all day while I was working. My cheapo surge surpresor was still active when I got home and my tv was fried, power supply and main board. An investment like this is like adding an extended warranty with the added benefit of carrying over as you upgrade your A/V equipment in the future.

Very happy with 5100
Posted by: Albaby from: on
I bought this so that I could move the 4300 to another TV. II also needed the straight plug in cable and longer extension for where my units were in relation to the outlet. I realized that I also needed the extra space on the outlets on the Panamax. The power bricks come in larger sizes and offset plugs and it never seems to fit right where it partially covers the next outlet on the surge banks. Have not seen any issues with it turning off to protect but we have not had a lot of power issues in the last few years. This is a good upgrade to my new 4k Samsung JS6500 and Denon 2200. I really like that you can dim the front display and do have a tendency to watch the power level but not a real issue. Pricey but very happy!
