A: Short Answer: Yes you can, but it won't be as good. Long Answer: I would say that technically no matter what type of speaker it is, the receiver will use it however you program it to use it. You have complete control over how it uses you setup. However, I think you would definitely not get anywhere near the same quality surround experience if you use height speakers for any purpose other than height speaker usage (Dolby Atmos)
Q: Can this receiver be used as a 2 channel unit for just stereo?
