Q: what is a type a flash drive mean

A: Type A is your standard USB connector. There is a Type B (more square with 2 corners angled instead of squared) connector that is commonly found on the end of printers. Usually you have these connected to a PC with a Type A to Type B cable. In addition, there is now a Type C connector which is similiar in size to a Micro USB connection but is the same oval shape all the way around so you can connect the cable without worrying about orientation and thus not damaging the connection by forcing it in. In the picture I've added the connectors are as follows from L to R: Micro USB, Lightning (Apple products), Type C (the probably new standard on non-Apple phones), Type B and Type A.

Great Deal
We needed a thumb drive that was large enough to hold a lot of video for my Mother-in-Law. And with thumb drives on sale most of the time. This just happen to be the brand on sale the week I went in. I'm a ScanDisc guy, but I have to admit, this PNY 3.0 Turbo is great. Especially the price for the size of the hard drive in it. The only downside, if you want to call it that, is that sometimes the sliding portion doesn't always lock in so it slides when you try to plug it into things.

It's always nice to have an extra flash drive
Best Buy had this PNY - Turbo Attaché 4 128GB USB 3.0 Type A Flash Drive - Blue on sale and I decided to purchase a couple. It's always a good idea to have an extra flash drive around. Flash drives are good to create computer password recovery keys, computer recovery media, and general backups. I purchased this drive because it was 128 GB and USB 3.0, and, yes, I like the blue color. USB 3.0 is always much faster that USB 2.0 in a USB 3.0 port. I was not too concerned about measuring the USB 3.0 speed or verifying the advertised speed because it is still faster then USB 2.0 - and it is fast on my computer. A flash drive is like having a mini SSD in your pocket.

good performance in smaller chassis
Just to point out, the part number listed here on best buy does not match the part number of the actual units sold in stores. In stores, this has the same primary part number as the "turbo plus 3.0" units and is simply a different color (the suffix of the part number is different- for color). Overall, PNY must be getting flash in smaller modules to allow them to shrink these down this much from the 2 year old 128gb module I already have. I do like the new shape as it makes it easier to remove the device from a usb port, and the protective sleeve works better than the old design which warps with age. my actual unit formatted out (HFS+) to be 132 gb rather than 128, so that's kinda cool- or worrisome if quality control missed that big a difference. So far, the unit performs well as a rsync backup device for my iTunes music library. it runs at around 115mb/s which okay.
