A: Hello, The vivofit band will work with a computer. The system requirement are as follows: For Windows - Windows Vista or newer, Microsoft .NET 4 Client Profile (included) 1024 x 768 display, USB port and 1 GB RAM High speed Internet access (Not for use with dial-up, mobile or satellite connections) May require up to 13 GB free disk space If you have further questions, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. Q: Is it compatible with any phone? I have a samsung galaxy
A: If you are able to download the apps the Garmin uses for these bands. connect and myfitnesspal
A: The vívofit will track steps taken and distance walked, as well as calories burned. The vívofit takes into account your Garmin Connect user profile (weight, height, age), the type of activity (running vs walking), and if a heart rate monitor is being used (which may give a more accurate calorie count). Vívofit also calculates both active and inactive (base metabolic rate) calories to show the total calories burned on a daily basis. ^DK
Q: Waterproof? Know of a waterproof tracker?
A: The vívofit has a waster resistant rating of 5 ATM (50 meters). This is a high enough water resistance rating that it can be worn while surface swimming without causing damage. Surface swimming means the device can be used while swimming (no scuba diving) in fresh or salt water, but please rinse the device after use in salt water. -JPK
Q: I know this is waterproof, but does it still track calories burned while swimming?
A: Though both the vívofit and heart rate monitor can function fine while submerged, the water will inhibit the ANT+ signal needed for the two to communicate. What this means is that the vívofit will continue to count "steps" from your repeated arm movements, but while underwater, it will not receive any heart rate information from the monitor. -JPK
A: I've seen the Heart Monitor sold separately. Here's one link - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/garmin-heart-rate-monitor/9062426.p?id=1218119809718&skuId=9062426
Q: Heart rate monitor that comes with 169.99 bundle
A: It's both plastic and elastic. The monitor itself across your chest is plastic with a backing so that it's not uncomfortable against your skin. The band has some stretch to it and is adjustable to fit all body types.
Q: Do you have to sync it to your phone? Does it use Data?
A: The Garmin vívofit Fitness Band does not use cellular data. It records data through out the day and it can be synced with a compatible smartphone or a computer to upload the data to a Garmin Connect account. When syncing with a compatible smartphone that is has a data plan, it will use data to upload the information to a Garmin Connect account. If he has a compatible computer, he can sync the vívofit with a Garmin program called Garmin Express. The vívofit can be used without syncing to a smartphone or computer, but it will have limited functionality.
