Q: does this hard drive work with ps4 or X box one consoles ??
A: Yes, this will work.
Q: Would this be a good choice for a complete system backup for a Windows 10 laptop?
A: Yes. I have several desktops and 2 laptops. One of my laptops is an HP Spectre x360 Convertible, which I also have a factory reset USB thumb drive for. I used my external HDD to do a complete system backup. I have used both devices to restore/recover my internal HDD, and they both worked perfectly. I feel comfortable knowing that my data/system can be restored/recovered by me if it is ever needed again.

A: You can use this drive for every purpose you can use an internal hard drive. It will not be as fast due to the USB data pathway, instead of the internal I/O buss.

A: operating systems shouldn't have anything to do with compatability, though I could be mistaken. but i have a 1 TB seagate and it works just fine on windows 8.1
