Amazing raw footage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot believe that it has been almost ten years since the tragedy of 9/11 affected all Americans (as well as the rest of the world) but each year I make a point to watch various anniversary airings of events from that day. I found this amazing video a couple of years ago and after viewing it I still found myself thinking about it days later. It is basically raw footage from various amateur videographers and voice recordings from different agencies that were in New York on that Tuesday morning and starts from right after the first impact on the first World Trade Tower that was struck until the final tragic collapse of the two towers. It focuses exclusively on the Twin Towers and the only mention of the Pentagon or the PA crash is heard in the background on tv or the radio from some of the footage taken from people's homes/apts. A running clock periodically appears on a black screen to indicate the passage of "real time" from the various footage. It stands out among the various documentaries that have been put together on 9/11 as it does not show the same horrific images of the 2nd plane striking the tower or various other images that played and replayed that day or in the months and years that have followed. This is real, raw footage as events unfolded and leaves a lasting impact. The interviews in the Witness to 9/11 feature of the DVD are definitely worth checking out as they help to flesh out much of the footage that was shown as they are interviews with the people that recorded the footage and help to express the thoughts and actions of the photographers involved.
