Before buying this product you want to do all your research.In my case it worked out really well with no issue. Had it for 4 days and will update soon.You must have a fast internet connection for it to work correctly.
I have 300 Down and 50 UP. If you have the minimum requirement do not buy.I have a dedicated 5 GHz Wi-Fi for the dooorbell also.I configure my router to support doorbell Pro and made it work efficient with no issue. I didn't take any chance on the 2.4 GHz.
I don't think it's a big deal but there is a delay for doorbell because it trying to ring your phone first before it rings the doorbell.
The connection to my phone is incredible with no issue or delay outside on the phone network. Based on the angle that I have my Doorbell Pro I don't have any issue with motion sensor because it's only looking at a wall and a cover pretty much the whole hallway.
I took a big risk buying this product knowing I may have to return it back if it didn't work out. After reviewing all the review online it seems a lot of people have slow internet connection. This is the reason why a lot of people are giving a negative a review on this item.
I also noticed in the new update lets you do live view on your phone.I think the old model works best for people with slow internet speed because it's not as high as resolution as you see on the new Pro.
If the company can let you pick your resolution on this new doorbell Pro it would work a lot better for everyone. (Ex 480p, 720p and 1080p)
I would only recommend this product to a friend that has high internet speed
The only concern that I have it's always hot. I'm not sure if it's going to stand up to the Texas weather.

Ring is aware and is saying the retail stores jumped the gun on putting them on the shelves. I purchased it and of course it has issues. Taking it back and exchanging it WILL NOT help. A firmware update can correct all the issues they are having. Here is the email I received from ring when I entered the setup.

As you begin using your Ring Video Doorbell Pro, there are a few things we’d like you to keep in mind.
Our retailers are just as excited about Ring Pro as you, so some retail stores stocked their shelves with Ring Pro earlier than agreed. Ring Pro was not supposed to appear in Best Buy stores until Monday, 4/25/16, and Home Depot until Sunday, 5/1/16. Because of this early set, there's a chance you will encounter a few hiccups when using your Ring Pro. Our systems and infrastructure were preparing to have the final firmware and app versions available in time for the 4/25/16 release date, but currently, our systems are not as prepared to handle Ring Pros effectively at the moment.
The good news is that a new firmware update will be available Monday morning (4/25/16), which means your current experience will improve very soon.
The current firmware version your Pro is running (1.0.18) will update starting Monday, 4/25/16. Our firmware updates are pushed out “over the air”, so nothing is required of you in order to receive the update. We will also have an iOS and Android app update available in the next few days which will alleviate any app-related issues you may encounter this weekend.
Here are some of the more major known issues. Keep in mind this is not the full list of issues, however, these are the largest remaining issues:
Ring Pro Issues:
Delayed doorbell kit ringing: Ring Pro takes up to 5 seconds to trigger your home doorbell once the button is pressed. The team is working on improving this experience.
Video image is too dark: Automatic exposure may leave some objects near Ring Pro darker than desired. This may make it hard to make out faces of people near Ring Pro. The team is working on adjusting this.
Battery symbol showing - Android: The battery power icon is showing in the Android App on Ring Pro. This bug will be corrected in a future Android App release.
Error when changing doorbell kit settings - Android:
Some users get an error in the Android App when changing the home doorbell kit from Digital to Mechanical (or vice versa). Please try the operation again and it should go through. This bug will be corrected in a future Android App release.

My husband and I bought this for safety, however, we bought the unit from BestBuy and it worked well for about a week then we couldn't get any video. We contacted customer support and they tried to help and had to set us up with tech support appointment the next day at 5 pm, tech support remotely looked into everything and said it should be working so they sent us a new unit. That one the video worked for about a day and then quit. Not only does the video not work but neither does the motion detected notification work either. I called customer support and was told that what I was experiencing was wrong. I had to ask for a supervisor 5 times before he would let me talk to someone. I talked to someone else who still wasn't a supervisor because they were ALLin a meeting.. Four hours later I got a call from a supervisor long story short, doorbell still broken, i have two units sitting on my desk and one can't be returned to best buy anymore. I would give it 0 stars if I could but 1 is the lowest.

Bought the ring doorbell a while back. The concept is great. However, it doesn't work as advertised. It is very inconsistent. I can walk outide and it will pick me up and then literally walk out on the porch a half hour later and stand there and it has no idea that I am 4 feet away from it. I have called and emailed to complain. All they do is make u jump thru a whole bunch of hoops. Uninstall the app, Reinstall the app, remove the doorbell from the account, add the doorbell back to the account, speed test the internet by the router, speed test the internet out by the doorbell, take the doorbell down, and test the reaction time with the doorbell by the router, and a few other tests. I even went out and bought a much better router. I'm getting 60mps on the front porch. And yet, the thing works less than half the time. It is junk and they refuse to stand behind it. I wish it worked. The concept is great. But it just doesnt.

Lots of bugs

I've had my Ring Pro and Ring Chime for almost a month and have decided to return it. I purchased the product right after launch so a few hiccups are to be expected. However, over the past month problems have increased. Ring would issue a firmware update a few times a week to fix one problem but two more would appear leading me to seriously doubt the competence of the development team and their ability to properly squash the large amount of bugs.
Most of the bugs manifest in one of the following ways these were all confirmed by Ring who said there was not a problem with my installation or WiFi signal strength and the problems were all on their end and to “give us time because this is a beta product”. Funny because I don’t remember reading anything about a Beta on the box or user agreement.
Alerts not sent to mobile device/Ring Chime
Button presses sent to the mobile/Ring Chime device as motion instead of a button press
False motion alerts exactly every 10 minutes. I had to uninstall the app from my phone to get some sleep a few nights.
Live view works maybe 50% of the time
Answering a motion or button press works maybe 25% of the time.
Night Vision would turn on/off throughout the day/night and the software registered this as a false motion alert
There are many more problems but the bottom line is the product does not work reliably as advertised. To make matters worse phone support is subpar. Expect lots of promises for call backs, etc. that never happen. Chat support is even worse. One chat took over an hour where there were periods of 15 minutes where I was waiting for the chat agent to respond to a message I sent.
My advice is to stay away from this company at least for the next year to see if they survive. They are a new company and with this many problems with their core product my guess is they won't be around for long. Even if your Ring works fine it won't once they discontinue their service and turn off their servers when they go belly up.

Although I think there are a few improvements that could be made its worked very well so far. I love that you can actually see who's at the door no matter where you are at. The Ring is very sensitive so even if they don't actually ring the door bell the motion sensor will alert you. That however is one of the drawbacks. If your Ring faces an area where you have plants or shrubs the wind will make them move causing your Ring to notify you of someone at the door when there isn't anyone there. You can shrink the area that the motion sensor covers but in my case then I pretty much cancel out much of the front of the house. I would prefer if could adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor and not just the area it covers. It would also be nice if you could shut off the motion sensor notification and only have the notification if someone actually rings the door bell. Other than that I would recommend the Ring Pro to add to your WiFi enabled home.

Awful - DO NOT BUY RING PRO!

I read many of the reviews for the Ring Pro and knew what I was getting into. Having a home automation setup (my entire home is wired) and having been through all the growing pains of the bugs, I thought I would be able to handle some of the bugs with the Ring Pro. I was mistakenly wrong.
Upon initial setup, which was quiet easy, everything seemed to work well with the exception of the motion detection. The motion detection was quite weak and only triggered when someone was at my front door. I was able to deal with that with the hopes of future updates would only improve the system. I experienced some of the other issues often complained about such as delay ringing the bell, lag time with the motion detection, etc. Then after a couple days, it no longer rang my chime inside my home when the doorbell was pressed.
Tech support is spotty at best with this product. But after several phone calls and emails, they finally suggested I remove the power box. This, for some strange reason, made the chime in my home work when the doorbell was pressed.
A few days had passed and the entire system no longer works: door bell will not ring, no motion activity, no chime, and no live view. I pulled the unit off and did a reset and everything was working "normally" again ... but only for about 1.5 days before it went dead again.
I think I have reset the Ring Pro at least 5 times in a two week period to keep it working. Taking this unit back for a replacement, but only because I am going out of town. Otherwise, I would go for a straight refund. I don't have much hopes of the replacement working any better, though. If it does, I will update this review to reflect that.
This product is nothing but awful. Save yourself the headache and time and look elsewhere.

Not Ready Due to Camera

Read the many bad reviews, read the few good reviews, and thought I should take a chance anyway. Install was fine, got the latest updates, but the camera is not working correctly. If the camera sees more sky in the background than people in the foreground it simply incorrectly adjusts to the sky. So not matter how bright the porch or time of day the person in the video is just a shadow. It is like the brightness and contrast are not automatically adjusting correctly on the camera. The only way to see anyone is if they stand 1 foot from the camera to block out the sky and the camera finally adjusted to show an acceptable picture. The attached picture at a specific time of day was truly the best I could get out of hours of trying. Called the very nice support team a week ago who confirmed they saw the same issue but have not heard back. Will be returning this weekend unless I hear from support on some sort of fix to address the issue.

I would absolutely not recommend these cameras to anyone! I purchased a doorbell pro and 2 stick up cams 5 months ago from Best Buy and after the first 30 days of horrible issues I attempted to return them. Best Buy has a 15 day return policy!! Really? So I contacted Ring and they said they have to troubleshoot first. As of now, 5 months later, they are still trouble shooting. In their troubleshooting process I have had my entire house rewired from my internet provider, my internet upgraded, a new upgraded modem and a new wi fi router ($600 more).
What am I left with? My outside cam, which has completely stopped working all together, can’t be more than 5’ from the room with the wi fi. The doorbell pro most of the time won’t pick up the motions it’s set for, and my other camera, set on the lowest setting, seems like it is picking up flies flying and is constantly turning on. So after $1200 into this process and 5 months I have one paperweight, one I charge all the time because it picks up everything, and one that works at random times.
Service still wants to troubleshoot. I guess I can’t blame them, I wouldn’t want these back either.

Better than 2nd gen Ring Doorbell - Love it!

Let start by saying not sure why other reviewers are not in love with this product? I had the 2nd gen version of this product and it was okay, a few quirks, but let me say in the two days I have owned this 3rd gen version, I love it! First off it is easy to install and despite having to return a defective one back to Best Buy to switch it out for a new one, it could not have gone smoother. This version includes live camera view which allows you to view outside your front door anytime you want. Not only that, you can set up small to large motion zones and it is a slimmer design much like any doorbell and different than 2nd gen which was a boxy ugly thing. Plus they give you 4 different faceplates to choose from to match trim of your house or apartment. Customer support is great to work with. Only drawback with this one is the hassle of installing an interior wired component to your existing doorbell, plus this only works with wired houses meaning there is no battery option here which I did not need anyway. In all this is the only smart doorbell you should own!
