This Samsung 5 Series HT-J5500/ZA Blu-ray home theater system includes 5 satellite speakers and a passive subwoofer. To build a complete 3D home theater system, you'll also need a 3D TV, 3D glasses designed for the TV and a high-speed HDMI cable.
Q: do the speakers need to be wired to the unit
A: The subwoofer, center, front left, and front right speakers are all wired directly to the player. The left and right surround sound speakers are wired to a separate box that has a wireless connection to the player. This keeps you from having to run wire across the room to the player.
A: Yes you can. There are two ways to control each speaker... there is adjustment for dB level of each speaker and there is a 'distance' adjustment for each speaker as well.
Q: is it a fm radio tunner also
A: yes. there is a flexible cord antenae and the stations came in clear. you have to go through all stations individually to program it to set for the one you want. it allows 15 programed in stations. no AM radio.
Q: DOES THIS PLAY REGULAR DVDS TOO?
A: Yes, this Blu-ray System supports DVD-Video and DVD±R/RW playback.
Q: I don't have a 3D tv. Can this system be used with any tv? It would be used with a Samsung Smart tv.
A: Yes, this can be used with a non-3D TV.
A: Had the same problem initially with the set up. Had to unplug the main unit & start over - then it worked.
Q: WILL THE BACK SPEAKERS WORK WHILE WATCHING TV?
A: No, all speakers should work. I have mine set up with an optical cable and everything works. The only thing is that, yes they do sound lower in volume than the rest, but everything should work together.
A: I had the same problem. Then I reread and instructions said rear speakers are not always in use. Sometimes for special effects only.
