I made this purchase yesterday and not lightly I might add. I am a hard pressed type of person for big purchases such as this one and rarely make them. I reviewed many tv and went into the store to look at them all. Now you know me as a purchaser.
I am happy to say that I am beyond happy with this purchase. The colors are crisp, clear, and rich. You may be concerned at the 60hz and the fact that there may be some blur but I personally see no difference.
For those worried about the sound and if it will be loud enough for you, I am partially deaf in both ears and I can hear the shows I watch just fine. I will say though that at times when there is deep base that the voices may be drowned out but this may be due to individual programming.
The fact of the matter is, at this price, the size of the tv, adding the smart capabilities which I have found no fault in, I will say that if you are in the market for a new TV that this is more bang for your buck than anything I personally have looked at for the amount of money you will spend. I highly recommend this product.

For $550 you honestly can't beat the price. With the 4K TV's on the shelves now, these non 4K's obviously will drop in price. I purchased this TV for my exercise room and am very happy with it. Make sure that you're aware that the refresh rate/motion rate is 60 and not 120 but for my exercise room it won't matter. For TVs, the refresh rate means nothing, especially given that manufacturers inflate their numbers. A TV with a high refresh rate is not guaranteed to be free of motion blur. Even for console gaming, there is no advantage in using a 120Hz+ TV, because console video games are capped at 60 fps anyway. Regardless the picture is AWESOME, I'd expect nothing less from Samsung. Set up was less than 20 minutes and and SMART HUB was up and running as well.

More features than the 48" - worth the price
Posted by: kensnickname from: on
I bought the 48" version of this tv, and was disappointed. Best Buy was great and let me exchange it for the 58" - and I am now happy. There is many more features in the programs of the tv. The base it comes with is much better designed, and more stable than the 48". And the speakers are better, with more adjustment capabilities. One of the great parts of the sound adjustments is the "voice mode" - many older people loose the capacity to hear higher pitch tones, and have trouble hearing the voices over the background sounds of the show. The 48 did not have this feature - and it is a must for anyone with hearing difficulties. None of these differences are explained on the best buy website--- what a shame. If your looking for a great, immersive watching experience - this is it. anything less doesn't cut it. (without spending alot more on 4k UHD)- I was so pleased with the speakers, that it almost doesn't need a sound bar- however it is lacking in base, & Motion rate is a little slow. - Those drawbacks are all i can come up with. it is easy to link to my wi-fi, easy to set up, Displays my phone, and much much more. Overall Great. Highly recommended for many reasons!

Nice sound and picture
Posted by: Rogambbo from: on
The sound is almost theater like with the music in some movies. It has several sound settings to choose from so experiment to find what you like best. The picture factory settings I thought a bit too bright but choosing the lowest energy savings settings gave a great picture. Apparently the energy savings settings dim the LED back lighting. Choosing higher energy savings settings made the picture too dark for my taste. But tweeking the settings gave us both great picture and sound. Just 3 inches bigger then our 55 inch now in the basement family room but seems like it is much larger. Love this big boy. The tweeks are there if factory settings don't suit you to achieve a great picture and sound.

Great TV at a great price
Posted by: CaptainBK from: on
Our 10 year old Samsung DLP finally started having some issues. Our entertainment center was built for a 58 inch TV so a 60 was too big and a 55 was too small for the space. 58 Inch TVs are kind of rare these days so I was pretty sure I was going to need to order one. Imagine my surprise when I found this model available at our local Best Buy and best part it was on sale for $599. The sales rep tried to tell us this only had 60 hz refresh and tried to sell us a 60 inch but I told her this was the only one that would fit. From what I have read, unless you are doing gaming or lots of action movies, you will never notice the refresh rate. I have looked for smoothness issues and I can't see any/. My wife and I mostly watch cable with an occasional DVD movie so it is really not an issue. Especially since we were used to and still enjoying a ten year old set. To us , this has an incredible picture. I hade it setup and was enjoying the tv within 30 minutes of bringing it home. So far we are very happy with our purchase.

Excellent VALUE for a large Smart TV
Posted by: downconvert from: Chicago,IL on
I needed a larger TV for my basement in my new house, I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a large 4K screen yet as we have plenty of other things we need to buy to furnish our house. I read the reviews of this TV, I l already had a 32" Samsung that is probably 7-8 years old and is still kickin so I had no reservations about Samsung so I pulled the trigger on this yesterday for $500 (Labor Day Sale). Set it up last night, no issues, nice, big beautiful picture and EXCELLENT built in speakers for Movies and Sporting events (TV shows of course too). I connect to NETFLIX via my Tivo unit so I can't fully comment on it's wireless capabilities but it found my wireless network right away so no complaints there ! The 60Hz refresh rate is beautiful for Netflix content, sporting events look good enough so if you want a LARGE, VALUE Smart TV with EXCELLENT SOUND... get this TV ! It's GREAT !

I was kinda looking for a new tv, I'd watched some football on a Samsung on thanksgiving, so that was the brand I'd be looking for. I found a smaller unit at another store, but they were out of stock. I checked best buy and found this. Fantastic price and the picture quality is excellent. As a result of me buying this, two other people I know picked one up... If you read this best buy, I'll accept the commission... 10% is fair.

Great TV for the price
Posted by: Gatorman from: on
I wasn't really in the market for a new TV. OUR 46" Samsung is still great at around 5 yrs old. However, around the holidays, I was looking for a deal too good to pass up. At $549 on sale, this was it. I don't really care about the smart TV features. I don't use any of them because I've got a full lineup package with AT&T U-Verse. I briefly played with the web browser, but without a wireless mouse and keyboard, it's too hard to navigate. One nice feature is being able to show my smart phone screen on the TV (using an LG G3). Anyway, the TV default settings didn't have a very good picture, so I've tweaked them and now think it looks very good. Here's what I changed (that I can now remember a couple of days later).
Picture mode: Standard
Tint: R50 - G50
Picture advanced settings
Dynamic contrast: Low
Flesh tone: -3
Color Tone: Cool
Sound Mode: Movie (I have a sound bar with sub woofer, so this wasn't as important to me)
Hope this helps someone of you're trying to adjust your picture settings. All situations are differy, but might be a starting point.

For $550 this is an excellent TV. For the regular price of $850, I think one can find a better deal. The 60Hz refresh hasn't been an issue & the picture quality is outstanding and that is really all I wanted. This is my first Smart TV & I'm not impressed with the apps & the browser is useless. My download speed on my computer is 65Mbps but wired or wireless the TV is like using dial-up. There is also very noticeable lag when turning the TV on/off, changing channels, opening the Smart Hub, changing input sources, and all other available functions. If all you want is a big TV with a great picture this is a 5. All other things considered I gave it a 3.
