One of the best, if not the best LED TV to date
Posted by: Blink25 from: on
I just got the 65" KS9000 and with not hesitation, I would say that this is one of the best (if not the best) LED TVs made to date. I have been trying to find flaws on this TV and so far, none.
- It has no banding on screen uniformity issues (nadda) which came as big surprise to me due to flaws we have always had with TVs with LED back-light. The back-light is also at the bottom and top of the screen (not on the side)
- No light bleeds or clouding, and no vignetting even the brightest or darkest of screens.
- The contrast is very good: there are no fluctuations in the black bars in widescreen movies even the darkest of rooms for me, and the black & gray uniformity is the best I have seen to date.
- Up-scalling is wonderful as always; watching satellite and other 720p or 1080i programing on this TV is wonderful but 1080p bluray just blows me away every time (It's just flawless).
- Reflections aren't a problem even in the brightest of rooms (it all has to do with the Samsung's ultra black technology in this TV ---read more on that if you are intereted)
- Build quality: its thin but pretty sturdy, and at no point in the mounting did I feel like it would fall apart which is pretty remarkable
- The remote is pretty remarkable, and ergonomic to the point that I want to make it a primary remote because it would be used as a universal remote.
Cons - like everything else, pretty expensive but worth it

Good set - after adjustments
Posted by: Josie1 from: on
This was my first LED TV purchase (the one it was replacing was a plasma set). I bought based on positive online reviews and Best Buy in-store demo.
It is a very good set, however, it takes some tweaking to get there. It ships out of the box with the color set very blue and the contrast very high. The Geek Squad guy who set it up goosed the picture to even more unnatural settings before leaving. Very significantly, the anti-jitter motion setting (I later found out this is known as the Soap Opera Effect) was set to full-on high, which lead to a very disorienting "pan and scan" sensation while watching. It took me a better part of a week to find the settings to bring the set into a natural picture.
So...a good set. I'm happy with it. But take some time and adjust it, or you won't be happy with it. And do NOT take the recommendation of the Geek Squad guy...he'll only make things worse.

Best LED currently on the market
Posted by: SFerrari from: on
Excellent black levels, minimal light bleed, excellent color, great smart hub with lightning quick response, excellent UHD upscaler all in an excellent package. Yes it's not an OLED but it also doesn't have image retention issues and doesn't cost $8000. I am delighted with the performace of this product.

Top of class 65" Samsung 9000 Series TV
Posted by: AJC1 from: on
We opted for the flat (non-curved) version of the 2016 9000 series. The upgrades over the 2015 model are worth it. We have had the TV for a few months now. The set up was very easy; in fact I left the room for a bit after we had unboxed it and mounted it on its stand and my son had the set up completed by the time I walked back in...literally a few minutes. The picture quality is fantastic. We have had no issues. The menus are easy to navigate and optional settings are intuitive and simple to move through. The remote is small, light and intelligently simple...it even includes voice commands. I bought a wall mount and it went up very easily. It streams internet content simply and with good clarity from Wi-Fi. I haven't even bothered to cable it directly to our router. It is an excellent product, albeit at a bit of a price premium. The only picture that competes with it is the OLED at twice the price.

Its not OLED, but it ain't far off
Posted by: Andy from: on
Have had this TV for about 6 weeks now. Considered OLED and the other brands, but I have had very positive samsung experiences (own hu8550) so was slightly biased. Spent a few hours in store watching and comparing. Great sales staff experience w mult "Brand specialists" that were upfront about pros and cons. I cant say enough about it, picture is simply gorgeous (wife is sick of me calling her in to room to look at picture), very bright, amazing colors, the olympics and all sports, 4k movies, netflix, and comcast have all looked fantastic. I have it in a very bright room w mult skylights and no problems at all. Remote is nice (minor issue: they should have backlit the buttons). I really appreciate decent built in speakers for a change. Blacks and whites are amazing. Occasional oversaturation of green and reds. I like the automotion plus feature and leave it on 90% of the time. Good app selection and platform. For the price point i dont think you can beat this TV. On that note, i paid 2800, went on sale for 2500 (which is a seriously great buy imo) after the 15 day window, went back to best buy and thankfully because i have the rewards and the right type of membership they took the 300 right off. Great customer service. Other cons: I dont like the stand, prefer single, wider base on the 8550 as opposed to spread leg metal type. Also, I like 3D, bummed Sammy decided to drop this option/feature.

Sharp Image, some backlight bleed
Posted by: RiverWayne from: Bloomington, IL on
The TV has a nice crisp image. However, there is some backlight bleed at the bottom and top of the screen on black screens with scrolling credits for instance. Not too noticeable during the day; stands out more at night in a darkened room.

Great TV with quirks
Posted by: Drcorn from: on
I purchased this tv on Father's Day 2016 in 4K the color depth (grass is fluorescent green) is great but needs tweaking. The motion, sharpness are definitely an improvement over my prior Samsung (2 yrs-old). The blacks are definitely deeper and smoother. I found the set up of the smart remote little tricky because It could not find Verizon Fios provider in the auto set up, so I had to do it manually which was not a big deal. Overtime (3 weeks) the smart remote lost its memory or connection to the tv so I had to go through the process again and I also went through a set of batteries very quickly.
The TV has great features and a beautiful picture especialy in 4K but it definitely comes with some issues just like any complicated piece of electronics, you have to reboot, reconnect or reset, every couple weeks.... once you except that fact in life you won't be aggravated by your purchases anymore.

Samsung 4K Ultra HD
Posted by: Piper from: on
I would highly recommend this tv if you get the KS9000 Series because it gives the most crisp quality in picture. Originally we wanted to get a 75" one but ultimately settled for the 65" because they didn't offer the KS9000 series in the 75". We favored quality over the size. I also enjoy how this TV is a smart tv so it already offers apps like Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon. We've also been able to hold off on buying a sound bar because the sound resonates really well in our condo.

I was ready to step up to 4K , so I read every review about all the 4k tvs I could get my hands on. This was rated the best for the money I had to spend. I love it the picture is great, I went down from a 72 inch HDTV to this 65inch and I tell you I'm not missing a thing! I love my TV only small issue I have is sometimes when I turn it on it wont connect to the sound bar and I have to restart the TV to get it to connect, Aside from that this is the PERFECT TV

Best LCD TV you can buy!
Posted by: Ldinelli from: on
I did a lot of product reviews prior to making this purchase. I was planning on going OLED but after reading some of the burn in issues, I decided to buy the Samsung over the Sony which I have always owned. I have had the TV for just over a month and love everything about it! Great picture, bright and colorful. Excellent for watching sports, Movies or TV. My living room is very bright and the TV does an excellent job.
