Not the best case, but better than most
Posted by: tsnajera from: ranhco cucamonga, ca on
First off, I didnt buy my case from best buy, I got it online for $30 rather than 50. Buying this case for $30 is a no brainer, but if you are considering buying this from bestbuy for $50 then first read my review.
This case has an ultra slim design so it adds little, to no bulk what so ever. This can be a good thing or a bad. Its good in the sense that it doesnt add any uneeded weight or bulk. Your tablet will look gorgeous in this case. I actually like the way it looks in the case better than without. The downside is that this case will not protect your tablet well enough if dropped. The case covers the whole tablet except the sides and there is no hangover on the sides. This case will protect your tablet from mostly all scratches, but scratches can occur on the sides not covered. As stated before, the case is very thin so if you just want a case to protect against scratches and arent worried about drops then this will be good for you.
This case has several magnets on the back and front. The function for these magnets is holding the tablet firmly in place when placed in its viewing angles. Theres a typing angle and a landscape viewing angle. You can adjust the landscape viewing angle slightly, but not as much as some other cases. There are also small rubber stoppers om the bottom to keep the tablet from sliding in this angle. The magnnets also hold the front flap against the back when you fold it back which is a nice touch. One thing that the magnets dont do is hold the case shut. When holding the tablet a certain way, the front cover can flap around. But i found that the way I carry it (against my side), it does no flapping what so ever.
When closed the case has a small opening for your headphones. Theres also a rubber wedge near it to hold your headphones wire in place. The charging port is also available when the case is closed and this case fits while charging on the samsung dock unlike other cases. Your stylus is also very easily accessible. When closed, you cant access your power button, volume rocker or micro sd port because the fold of the case covers it.
All in all, this is a very attractive case that serves its purpose with its ultra slim design. There are only two viewing angles, but it has magnets that hold them in place. The headphone jack and charging port are accessible when closed, but nothing else. The main reason i didnt rate this a 5 is because there is nothing that holds the case shut, but as stated it is not a problem for me because the front cover is rigid and doesnt easily bend and flap. The case will protect against scratches, but not drops. I personally would pay the 50 dollars for it because of the beautiful looks and design but its your choice. Hope this helps.

Looks great lacking in functionality
Posted by: TeeTee08 from: Little Rock, AR on
This case is light weight, slim, and fits snugly. The overall appearance is great. However, it does not function very well! My Note constantly falls because the stand begins to slip after a few minutes and it’s essentially unstable. Sometimes, I have to keep adjusting it just to get it to stand on its own. This is an issue in both of the position. Also, as noted by others back camera is blocked when case is open. While it looks nice, it is useless as a stand, which is unbelievable at this price.

Great looking cover

Nice case, protects the screen. However, it's supposed to be easy to use as a stand but it doesn't have enough support to stay up.

Not well thought out

We bought this when we got our Note Galaxy 10.1 because it was specifically for the Samsung tablet, snapped on nicely, and presented a thin attractive appearance.
My wife liked to stand up the tablet on the kitchen counter using the case, but found that it could easily tip over. Another problem was that when the case was closed for transporting the tablet in a purse or bag, if it was grabbed by the hinged side the part of the case covering the screen could easily open to expose the screen. It was possible to get keys or other items between the case and the tablet screen.
The case was very expensive considering it's poor design, so we returned it to the store. Other cases were available online that would securely support and protect the tablet for a third the price. Best Buy did not offer any other cases at the time.

Ok case, but for $80????!!!
Posted by: jamietmob from: Canton, OH on
The case is ok as its functional and does what it's supposed to do, but for $80 I'd expect a lot more than just the Samsung name embossed on the front and back! I found an equivalent case under the Poetic brand for less than $10! In fact I purchased 2 for under $10!!! This Samsung branded case is a total money grab. Shop around before buying this!

I am pleased with the sleek design and classy look. It is very sturdy and stain resistant. The cover gets in the way when trying to take pictures or video but it's worth the small bother.

Overpriced and hinders tablet functionality.
Posted by: sdneid from: Durham, NC on
This case is thin and light. It closely matches the construction style of the tablet itself. But unfortunately, that's as far as I can say positively about this case.
As you would expect, the holes are in the right places: Pen still comes out. The back camera can see out the back. The volume jack is accessible. But the camera will get blocked when you open the unit, and using either one of the designed viewing angles will prevent you from plugging the charger into the unit.
Additionally, if you setup the viewing angles, the case front will become warped and no longer conform to the front of the tablet. This may fade away as the case receives more wear, I intend to test it out for at least a week before judging for sure.
All in all, I would hold off on buying this case. It's mediocre design is expensive, and more or less just a poor knockoff of Apple's attempt with their Smart Cover.

Love it! Just what I was looking for!

I love this product. I originally had purchased a leather book cover and not only did it add bulk it added weight! This case is lightweight and works just great! I love the easel setting and also the stand setting for watching tv or movies!
I'm ready for more colors!!

Galaxy Note Book Cover...Yes!
Posted by: mben from: washington dc on
The Galaxy Note 10.1 book cover is wonderful. I had another cover but it made the tablet heavier and more bulky. I wanted something light, that would compliment my tablet not hide it. A little pricey. but to me was worth it. Perfect fit, access to all openings. Cover looks great, protects well.
