Q: Does it have parental controls that can be access though mobile phone?
A: Yes, you can set up parental controls.
Q: I have uverse internet with att. Would this replace the router I am renting from them?
A: I don't use UVerse but in all situations there is a modem, router and maybe wifi. Modem is what connects to your ISP router is what helps with DHCP, routing, etc... Wifi is to broadcast the signal. So, you will probably still need the AT&T modem (as with most ISPs) and may be able to disable the router functionality to allow the Connect router functions work.
A: yes, it is exactly the what it does
Q: Do you need internet service such as optimum or verizon for this to work?
A: You will need some sort of internet provider (where I live in the Phoenix area, the two major ones are Cox and Centurylink) in order for this to function. This, and other routers/whole-home wifi systems, do not create the internet out of nowhere; rather, they channel it into a format that your devices are capable of using to gain access to the internet.
A: There is the ability to use either an ethernet backhaul or wirelessly. You will get a better connection if you connect them through ethernet rather than wirelessly. This is true of any whole-home wifi system. If you choose not to use ethernet, there is no dedicated band specifically for the backhaul.
Q: Do these support wired/ethernet backhaul or are they limited to wireless?
A: Wireless only, and it's shared bandwidth, not dedicated.
