I am calling this the almost mount, because it is the best mount I have ever bought, almost. It comes with two metal plates, one large for something like a tablet and the other small for a cell phone. The strength of the magnet with the metal plate, which are attached with 3M tape by the way, are super strong and will keep your mobile device in place. The almost part is where I think they could have done a better job with the adhesion of the material on the base of the mount, that is, the part that would rest on your dash. Granted, most drivers will never push their vehicles to the limit as I do when going around corners, but nonetheless, if you turn hard enough, say in somewhat of an emergency maneuver, the mount might slide across your dash. This may have something to do with weight of mount as well. I am not sure of the weight of the sandy material used inside to help keep it planted, but I think if they would have made the mount a bit heavier, it would have helped to keep it planted under extreme circumstances. The other gripe I have is the height of the mount. You could use this device with small 7-8 inch tablets; however, space gets really tight, especially when mounted in portrait view. With all that being said, overall, it's a really great concept. Stick the magnet on your device, place the device on the mount, and bam! No fiddling with clips..it's a one handed operation! Stick and go! I would say under normal driving conditions and used with your average smartphone, it's a super device. And the mount can easily be removed without leaving residue in your windshield like a sticky mount would, and stowed away for security. I have a Galaxy Note 4 with a somewhat thick case. The metal plate is affixed to my phone, so I have to remove my phone case every time I use the mount. However, since it comes with two plates, you could use the small one on the phone and the larger one on the case itself. I also purchased their windshield mount, which came with another two plates. So, I have the larger plate on one of my tablets, and I will use the other plate to mount on my phone case. As far as the magnet, I have not noticed any adverse effects on my memory card or the screen. And lastly, the device while mounted can be rotated without fear of the device falling off the mount, which allows for perfect and simple orientation.
