A: Yes, any usb 3.0 drive is compatible.
Q: If I put my very important family photos on it, is it safe for a while?
A: No matter how good a hard drive, it never good to store important files on only one. It is always best two drives that have identical data. It's best to store them in locations that way if one is in a fire or a flood, your data is still safe on the other one.
Q: I only 2.0 usb connections. What is usb 3.0/2.0++
A: While USB 3.0 is faster, this device is compatible to use with USB 2.0 as well. In fact all USB 3.0 devices are made to work with USB 2.0 too. USB 3.0 and 2.0 both use same type of plug and port but 3.0 is faster and is colored blue inside the port. I used this drive on both USB 3.0 and 2.0.

A: You can use the portable hard drive on many computers and you have to set it up to be able to go from Windows PC to Mac. When you connect the drive to any computer, it will guide you through the steps to configuration.
A: Most of the time this will work with being connected to a router. That is if the router is designed for an external drive. Some configuration may be required. Please review the documentation that came with your router or look the documentation up online if you do not still have the original docs.

A: Yes it works with Yosemite, you have 2 options to use this HD. 1-You can use it with Time Machine. 2-You can use it as regular External HD The HD had stored an utility installer that will give you the option to use it for PC and Mac or for Mac only.
