Sharp minds do make sharp products!

My guess it Sharp makes the Roku Insignia televisions. I loved that Insignia, but when it came time to get another they had discontinued the 1080p version, so I picked up this Sharp for a very good price. Everything about it was familiar. Th Sharp 32LB481U has a crisp image, bright screen, minimal cloudiness, and the built in Roku makes using the set easy.
- Dual band wireless -YES! Real 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz capability! Every manufacturer needs to do this.
- Roku makes navigation easy. Simple remote control that works.
- 3 HDMI inputs -2 bottom facing in the back, and one on the left side
- Very bright screen if set to vivid.
- Sound quality is actually decent considering. LCD's are not known for amazing sound.
- Input lag is minimal
- Very lightweight which might not instill confidence in some
- No controls on the television. You Need the remote to really use the TV. I personally don't like this trend.
- No image enhancements (no 120hz motion smoothing but you never see this on lower end sets)
- A little slow to boot up. This likely due to having a budget processor, again not surprising for the price.
- Why does the Roku remote have volume buttons on the side? That annoys me because there is space at the bottom of the remote.
I loved my Insignia which really was a rebranded Sharp. Obviously I recommend this Sharp as the price is fantastic and picture quality is well good enough to use as a computer monitor, gaming console monitor, or for watching television/Netflix/Amazon Prime. Buy with confidence.

Great TV at a great price!
Posted by: Tdobby13 from: on
I've been in the market for a smaller 32 inch for my bedroom for a while now. All of the units i've been looking at were lacking imo- most sub $200 units are only 720p. I picked this unit up on sale for $175 and some change and i couldn't be happier. Most of the 720 units i considered were around 130-150, so the price jump is negligible.
Picture quality is crisp and bright. The darks are dark. It has 3 hdmi ports, where most smaller units nowadays have only 2. The sound quality is actually excellent considering how small the system is.
I love the roku software. I still think an external roku is the better purchase, BUT, i bought this unit with the consideration that its less wires to run and easier to move the unit as a whole without misplacing which wires go where etc (also the unit is super light- i think my grandparents could lift it without batting an eye).
The control is super easy to operate, not a lot of buttons to get confused on. I particularly love how the volume buttons are placed on the side of the remote, makes it very easy to find when the lights are off and a movie is playing.
All in all, I can't recommend this unit highly enough. I did purchase it on sale, but having it now, i would still purchase it again at full price.

ENJOY our ROKU TV
Posted by: ALANJL from: on
We had trashed our old BEST BUY projection TV from the late 1990's finally. We looked at several TV's and were intrigued by the ROKU offer. The salesman was very patient and explained all the different functions (which by the way are simple) that we can do with this new TV. Price was right. It has been two months or so since we bought it. It is fun to use. I never understood before what ROKU was. There are so many free apps and channels you can get for literally little to know cost. The TV, Sharp, has crystal clear picture. It is very vivid. Sound quality is awesome to say the least. I or we cannot think of anything negative to say about it. The design is sleek and just wonderful to look at.
I would recommend this TV to anyone.

Great TV for streaming service users
Posted by: Casper from: on
Good quality TV but not recommended for users that prefer a remote control with number keys. Even bought a universal remote, which worked, except for the number keys. Changing channels is a bit of a pain as you have to select the channel you want by scrolling through the channel list that you bring up on the TV. Much prefer being able to enter the TV channel you want via remote control number keys, but that is not possible with this TV. Goal was to hook up directly to cable system without the need for an external cable box, but lack of number keys on remote control made that plan unfeasible. However, this is a quality TV that would be useful for people mainly viewing NETFLIX and other streaming services.

TV is factory set up so that Roku is dominant feature, which I was unaware of. It means you have to wait for it to "boot" up. Then you have to select TV and wait for that to "boot" up in order to watch your TV. When I turn on a TV, I don't want to have to wait like you do for a computer. And to make matters worse, the inadequate remote has no numbers on it, so instead, you have to scroll through all the channels to get to the station you desire. It's like the pre-remote 60's, when you had to turn the channel knob to get to your desired station. Only, back then there were only 13 numbers. It's VERY ANNOYING!! I would write more about how unhappy I am with this TV, buy it's making me irritated just thinking about it.

Excellent 2nd Smart tv
Posted by: treats4me from: Phoenix, AZ on
I was looking for a second small smart tv and found this smart tv with roku on sale.It also had 1080p for a great picture. It took more time to attach the feet than to set up the tv software. I especially like the right side placement of the volume control on the remote control because I am left handed. Free shipping was a huge plus. Best Buy has become my first choice when comparing products before purchase. This tv is a great example of why I recommend this product from this online retailer.

Good for some
Posted by: Rudaje from: on
Pros: This Sharp Roku TV has a really great picture. Roku is built in, so if you like that kinda thing, it's great for you. The price is great for a 1080p tv. There are 3 HDMIs. Cons: the TV and Roku are intertwined, meaning when you turn the TV on, you have to wait until everything loads. That can be a drag. The tv is in general a bit slow. There is only a Roku remote that controls the tv. There is no separate remote. This makes it annoying to watch antenna tv because there are no numbers or page down buttons on the Roku. I didn't like the red light that blinks each time I engaged a button on the Roku remote. It was annoying. ESPN and CNN did not always work. Honestly, I liked the insignia Roku tv better. It was faster and espn and CNN always worked.

Finally a great tv

I bought and took back 3 tv's before I was satisfied with this Sharp with 32" and roku. I bought Vizio,TCL and Samsung all had certain screen clarity problems.Soap Opera effect, Motion effect watching a football game, color adjustment issues. In fairness the Samsung was a 40 inch 1080p had good picture but mounted on the wall in front of my computer desk, the screen was too big and looked bad at that close of range.Had excellent picture at 10 to 12 ft. away but I hated the layout of the remote and lack of apps on the smart feature. The 1080p 32" sharp is a great little tv with natural looking faces with clean, sharp colors right out of the box. In my opinion this is the best 32" tv out there.

Great TV and Features for the Price - Good Value
Posted by: LouInIndy from: on
I recently bought this TV for my teenager's room...the features were exactly what I was looking for, and the sale price was perfect.
The TV is modern, lightweight, and designed with smart features that allow connection to numerous sources, including plenty of HDMI connections as well as a home wifi network for streaming.
The setup is straightforward and logical, and easy and quick to go from box to watching. The on-screen image is excellent, even from various angles to the side of the TV. The 1080p resolution is still very good, and the colors are vivid and rich.
The only real issue I have is with the processor. You definitely get what you pay for. Although navigating the menus is quick, you do experience some buffering when switching from channel to channel during streaming. While not an issue with the TV, I also wish I bought a little larger one than this 32"...10 years ago, that was considered a larger screen; now, it feels like a computer monitor!

Bought this because I needed a smaller screen (32") set for our Master bathroom and one which has good resolution (1080p) and Smart capability for a very small budget. For the money $189, it is an amazing deal! However, the one I bought had non-working WiFi (displayed MAC Address 00:00:00 etc) so had to return it to Best Buy for an exchange. The exchanged item generally works well, although I haven't used it fully so far. The only problem appears to be screen sharing with an android Smart phone which doesn't seem to pair properly. The software driving this appears to be in beta and may work after a firmware update becomes available. Other criticisms are speed of switching between Apps. , no Ethernet port and small, low functionality remote. You get what you pay for and all in all this appears great value for the buck!
