A: No they are all hard wired.

A: The BDVE3100 only has an FM tuner.

A: You can using standard RCA connectors. However, it would be better to get an optical digital audio connector and just connect all devices to your TV, and then connect the optical out from your TV to this system.

Q: Speaker Connections .. Proprietary ??

A: Yes they are proprietary connections. one end is the color coded plug that goes into the back of the receiver, the other end is hard wired directly into the bottom of the speaker (no plug). Regular speaker wire cannot be used with out splicing. In my case, my home is pre-wired for a surround sound system and this required me to cut the included speaker wire a few inches from the speaker and splice this connection to the wires coming from my ceiling. Then I had to strip the remaining length of speaker wire (with the proprietary plug attached) and connect that to the wall plate where the speaker wires go in. Took me about 2.5 hrs do everything. Splicing requires a wire cutter/stripper and either electrical tape or heat shrink (highly recommended). As for the length I'm not sure. To keep things as clean as possible I kept all of the cables bundled. If I had to guess there are at least 20 Feet on the rear speakers probably a little more. You may give Sony a call 1-877-865-7669.

A: The DVD player will play DVD's labeled region 1, region 0 or all.

Q: Do you have to have a receiver with this unit or does it come with one?

A: This is a receiver and a blue ray player in one, it comes with 6 speakers including the subwoofer, it has a digital audio input and an analog audio input so if you need more inputs than that look for a separate receiver

Intuitive & Smart
I hoped that by matching a Sony surround system with my Sony Smart tv would make things better from the operating standpoint. I wasn't prepared for this combination to be as intuitive and reactive as it is. I used the Sony sub woofer but I chose to hook up to Klipsch in front and Bose book shelf in rear. could not be happier with this unit.

Was a Gift to my husband.
Very Pleased with our surround sound. It was a Christmas gift to my Husband along with a new 60" TV. He has been very pleased with both. And that's all that matters to me. Thank you, once again for supplying another great product!!
