Great Addition to Galaxy S5
Posted by: INOV8TN from: on
Shopped for DSLR backup prior to vacation - cruised BestBuy and saw and played with QX10. Got 'snared' by drastic 'Open Box' discount and took it home and played with it.
I warn you that you'll have to 'play' with it a bit because it has a lot going on but you'll uncover features like HDR and amazing ISO as you do.
The quality of the pictures is great . The Moon-on-the-Water was shot using one of the modes and according to Photoshop the ISO that the QX10 selected was 12,800 and the exposure was 1/4 sec.
There is a second photo - actually a montage - that shows the chromatic aberration of my DSLR kit zoom lens compared to the #barely discernible# chromatic aberration of the QX10.
Sony recently released a s/w update for the phone end of your system and a firmware update for the QX10 and it's pretty cool because it gives you a grid to help with composition and direct control over ISO. It also clears up some tech issues.

Great supplement for your phone's camera.
Posted by: MsEn1gma from: El Paso, TX on
I bought the lens because I was interested in getting more defined, sharper and overall more beautiful looking pictures. This product did not disappoint. I liked how you can mount it to your phone as well as use it freehand. The pictures came out sharper than they did on my galaxy s4, and believe me the photos using my phone's camera were pretty sharp and defined prior to using the Sony lens. The one thing that fell short of getting a 5 star rating is that I can not use my camera's flash in conjunction with the lens. You do get lovely low light photos, however if there is little to no light the pictures come out poorly.

Great add-on, with easy upgradability
Posted by: Jacel91 from: Orlando, FL on
This is a great add on for your phone, takes pictures the same quality of Sonys $500 cameras, but at a much better price since you are providing the screen. Currently the app is a little buggy, freezes sometimes. The great part about this camera though is that the apps will be updated easily, unlike when there is a firmware update for a regular camera and most people never get it. Also developers besides sony are working on apps that work with this lens. Battery life is decent, easily lasted a day of photoshooting at the aquarium. One caveat is that if your phone is already connected to wifi you have to go in a switch to the camera since it connects over wifi, only a short delay once you get the hang of it though.

Great lens when it's daylight or bright
Posted by: mchojnac from: on
This is an excellent lens to add-on to a mobile phone -- especially those of you who have an older phone. The pictures are great when it is daylight outdoor or brightly lit indoor. This does not do such a great job when it is dark. Zooming and focusing takes (inordinate amount) some time if you are interfacing with it via the phone's touchscreen.
There are no manual options to dig deeper into the capabilties -- a couple of different automatic mode is all that is available.
What it is: a great zoom lens to add to an iphone ./ smart phone. When zoomed in to the maximum, the pictures tend to be blurry as the handshake effects it greatly.
This lens came with the case, and both items work well together. I end up taking this lens when we go out on a day trip that I do not want to lug my dslr around all day.

Good in theory, not so much in practice
Posted by: oxtristisxo from: Orlando, FL on
While it's a great idea, it needs more development. I returned this one because it just didn't live up to my expectations, but I may try another one in the future when the technology is a bit better.
It's portable and easy to use, once you finally get it connected. The connection takes forever and can be complicated because it connects via wi-fi, not bluetooth like I had hoped. That means while using the lens, you can't use your wi-fi for anything else.
You're also forced to use their app, which isn't the greatest thing in the world. It's slow to respond, so the delay between the action in front of the lens and the relay to the phone (viewfinder) is too much for action shots.
I do have to say the image quality was good for being an external lens, but honestly I could get comparable quality from my phone's on-board camera.
It was fun to play with but I couldn't justify keeping it when it didn't do anything amazing my current phone camera could not.

great camera for all conditions, day or night
Posted by: Ruben from: on
I truly enjoyed taking this camera on vacation. It allowed me to shoot photos in all lighting conditions and quickly share them via mobile phone. It is a little bulky but nevertheless worth carring around because of the performance. It would be nice to have some sort of carrying case but the hand strap it came with helped a great deal. Overall opinion is that I'm happy with the purchase and it's a keeper. Very satisfied with battery life.

i have had this camera for about a month now and it has worked pretty good so far. this camera has fair image quality, much better than my iphone 6 which if you have seen is pretty good. some of the pros are- image quality, small compact size, rechargeable battery. the cons are- takes a while to connect to my phone at least, after taking a while to take the picture, it takes about 2 seconds to 'fetch' the image', which can be the difference in getting that awesome shot, it doesn't take a regular SD card and you need a weird case. in conclusion this is a good camera for beginners and taking nice landscape shots but horrible for action shots. i could not include sample images because they were too large, sorry

Great new innovation

It's easy to setup and use. It works on android and iOS. Image quality is excellent but there is a slight lag sometimes between camera and phone/tablet but images it produces are worth the hassles.

Works as advertised, but a bit cumbersome
Posted by: Cameraguy from: on
I really liked the novelty of this camera at first - it turns my iPhone into a high-quality camera! What a great lens! Auto-syncing with my phone! Ultra-fast uploads!
But quickly that deteriorated into - why am I holding my phone in one hand and my camera in the other? Why are almost all of my photos tilted? Why does this thing take so long to start?
It's a cool gimmicky toy, but save yourself the hassle and get a real camera.

Great product. Easy to set up and use. Takes great photos. It snaps securely onto the iPhone. It is novel and attracted some inquiries. Only downside is it didn't include a carrying case to protect it. It fits easily in pocket or handbag but should have a cover or case for protection.
